I am going to ignore both teams results from last Saturday. The only result that mattered was 1984 and wishing 100% to hold a grudge we are due revenge. So straight in we will win this one and tick off another box. Sorted.......

Tough going for Argyle in the first half but they've defended well to restrict Watford to 2 shots on target and managed to make a decent chance for Morgan Whittaker.

Stats say we are being battered. However, live text doesn't really reflect that much danger except perhaps one of their attempts which hit a post.

It seems to have opened up in the second half. We aren't having a lot of possession but at 70 mins, we have 4 shots on target to their 3!

Cundle on for Randell and now Azaz on for Callum Wright. There will be some tired legs out their for sure.

Tremendous performance from Argyle. Possibly had the better of the second half but couldn’t make and take a decisive chance.

Some boos for Watford as they went off at the end but plenty of noise from the travelling Greens.

We now know that we can battle in this league as well as play good football. There will be disappointments but so far, so good.

Been reading round the Boards this evening and there is a mixture of opinions as you would expect. Watford wise there is a 50/50 split almost between "we was robbed" and "they played well". Overall though the consensus was we were worthy of our point and an admission that we could have possibly nicked it with a couple of chances we had. If you read the Argyle Board then of course the opinion differs from 50/50 to 80/20 that we were well deserving of our point and a few could have nicked it comments also thrown in. The general opinion was it was end to end stuff for a lot of the game onceArgyle had weathered the first 20 minutes or so. I read one comment about us being relegation fodder and a host of comments saying we are unlikely to be relegation fodder and will surprise a few who have that attitude when approaching the game with us. I take comfort from that and the view that 0 - 0 is often boring but this one was most certainly not. So as Farked19 has posted above it was a good point greens.

I think Simon Hallett is considering ringing Stephen Schumacher and warning him not to go and get promoted again. He was told last season and did it anyway and we don't want a repeat of that. There's a plan Stephen, stop bloody well over-achieving, will you?

That's a great result. Deserved or not (and I think it was), it doesn't matter, 4 points out of 6 and a very full and very noisy house to "welcome" Southampton next Saturday. They've conceded 4 today and Ryan Hardie must be salivating at the thought. Would we have settled for that 2 weeks ago? Yes we would. Should we doubt them? No, we shouldn't.

On a personal level I can hold my hand to heart and say I have never doubted them and still don't. There are not many in our squad who have played at this level and some of them will probably take a while to get up to the required speed level for it. But, what they never lack is heart and that's all I ask from them. Just don't roll over. I don't think they will even if the going gets tough.

Thanks Farked. I’m pleased with that result because we’ve been signing young players with potential rather than experienced old warriors. Clearly Watford had most of the ball, which is unusual for us, but we’ve battled them to a standstill. You might have wondered if we had that in us, but we do.

Just watched the Watford 90 minutes.

Certainly a torrid first 15 or 20 minutes, particularly down the left with Martins up against Joe Edwards. Luckily. Martins’ use of the ball when the chances come isn’t as impressive as his pace in getting there.

Despite the balance of play, Watford really only made one good chance in that 15 minutes of domination, with Hazard, Gibson and Earley standing out.

Argyle didn’t repeat the risky passing out from the back we saw against Huddersfield, partly because the went long to avoid the Watford high press.

Watford continued to hold the balance of play but once that first 15 was over. Argyle made a few half chances. They didn’t come to much but Watford must have got a very clear message that we could cut through them with ease if they dropped their guard for a second.

The first half was one sided but we gave them several frights when we did get forward while their waves of attacks broke on a resolute Argyle defence without too many moments of real threat. The stats looked terrifying but it wasn’t quite like that

At halftime, Mark II Argyle, going long and defending for their lives, was withdrawn and Mark I Argyle came out instead, passing through the thirds and opening Watford up now and then. Watford kept the initiative most of the time but suddenly, as they used to say, end to end play ensued.

It ended 0-0. There are 0-0’s and then there was this. Ninety minutes of full throttle, high intensity football. New rules or not, we only needed 1 minute of extra time in the first half and 4 in the second inclusive of substitutions. There were fouls of course from both sides but nothing objectionable. Well done to both sides. That’s the way football should be.

We’ve got a tough one on Saturday but having watched this, even more so than the win against Huddersfield, I can’t feel other than optimistic.
