Finding a reason to owe them a kicking isn't hard for this one is it. They tried to derail our season last term by recalling Whittaker and then sticking him on the bench for a few games but not really playing him. It probably says more about their owners than anything in their quest for a buck. I also note that the Ref for this one is an "up and coming" type who hasn't much Championship experience although he seems to know where he keeps his cards. He can't be worse than the worst Ref I've ever seen on Tuesday. Anyway, we can win this and with a bit more luck we will. COYG
We all know that Morgan Whittaker will be up for this one.....and Swansea will do their utmost to stop him. But Luke Cundle will also be up for this one as well.....seeing that he spent last season on loan at Swansea. Between them let us hope that they come up with the goods and stop us losing two on the trot at Home Park. Let us not forget that last Saturday Swansea went to Millwall and won 3-0...so make what you can of that ?
And they're DWWW in their last 4, so there are no grounds for over-confidence. But then, we SHOULD have beaten Millwall by several, so there are no grounds for believing we can't win this one.
If you take all of the results of all of the matches this season so far and put them in some sort of who beat who and when order then I would guess none of it would make any sense at all. We lose 4 - 1 to Bristol City and then beat Norwich 6 - 2 is one example. I think the only club who will walk away from the rest this season is Leicester. Ipswich may do well but they will flag for at least a period where Leicester won't. I always think Argyle can win no matter who we are playing and when.
Argyle going down at the moment 1-3.....with only two points away from home...winning at home is necessary....but it ain't happening.
Just watched the video......looked too easy for Swansea to score.....not sure that Hazard came out too well with two of those goals......our defence isn't as good has we thought it was. We have had lots of attacking chances in the last two home games.....and only scored once....and that was from a poor defensive move from Swansea. Steven Schumacher until this season has not much experience on how to sort out a leaky defence.....let's hope he learns quick.
I really really don’t know what to say about that. It was obvious Swansea were a better side than Millwall but we had a decent first half. Most of the play was down at the Barn Park End but it looked better. Mumba in particular was more direct and that helped. We were very left side biased though with less happening down the right. We defended well. Swansea kicked off in the second half and had 5 minutes of continuous possession. That seemed to trigger a change in the balance of power which we didn’t recover from. Had they made a tactical change at half time? Hard to say. It’s not the first time we’ve lost the second half. Indeed I’m not sure how we played - 3:4:2:1? 3:4:3? After Swansea scored, we pushed to regain the lead and conceded another. We pushed for an equaliser and conceded a third. The ref again played a part, not giving a free kick for an obvious foul in Swansea’s defensive third allowing them to break against a depleted defence to score in addition to other absurdities We have more problems than that though. Schumacher has two weeks now with a virtually full squad and no games. He needs a fundamental rethink. Who plays, irrespective of how much they cost or their previous successes. What shape? Would we be better to play the way that suits us and forget what the other lot do or do we need to stop the opposition as a priority in this league? I’m convinced we have the players to make a go of this but it really isn’t working at the moment. if you look at the big names: Azaz, Hardie, Mumba, Whittaker: none are playing at their best. That doesn’t mean it’s their fault necessarily: it’s a team game after all. But something’s not right. Large numbers left before the whistle and one older woman flung her Argyle scarf onto the pitch and stormed out after the third goal. Petulant yes but a lot of fans will be feeling frustrated.
I can't comment today as I was absent with a sick note but I can never see the point in making those sort of jestures against your own players or team. Frustrated yes I get that but booing or like jestures doesn't make the players play better ever. We are learning in this league and we all knew it would not be easy to get a foothold. I still think we will come good in the end so I for one am not going to start throwing tantrums just yet.
The frustrating thing is that again we could or even should have won this. Even at the end, we had Miller down one side and Bundu down the other doing the same things. Getting the ball, running fast and getting into the box. Waine missed a glorious chance. As always, we stayed to the end and clapped the players off, come hell or high water.
That's the story of the games so far though notdistant. We need to learn how to turn those efforts and chances into results. I think sometimes we are a bit naive and not street savvy enough. We get mugged. But as said we will learn even if it takes a bit of time.
As with Millwall, we dominated the first half although as I said, Swansea are far better than Millwall. But it was the same old story: good positions but too few converted into chances. There was a typical example of today. Mumba has the ball, advancing into the left corner of their box facing one defender. Run at him, there’s a better than evens chance we’ll get a shot or a penalty. What does he do? Tries to feed it to another Green shirt on his OUTSIDE. Result: chance wasted: goal kick to Swansea. That happens time after time. Go for the jugular: you are good enough.
Well my dice predictions only brought 6pts....so my guessing was twice as good....although half my pts came from one game. So away at WBA in a fortnights time....the games don't get any easier.
well i also stayed until the end as always even tho i was in the bar afterwards having a small beer. i understand some are frustrated but it was a good game and we have had plenty of chances first half. it does become frusdtrating as they are trying and playing ok, yep swansea were better than millwall with the same outcome .. we need to strt putting the created chances away. it will happen and soon someone will get another Norwich, im contemplating going to WBA as been there plenty , but will be at the sheff wed game.. we just keep going and im sure we will be ok .. a few weeks off now and reset .. tougher games coming now
