I remember the game notdistant was refering to on the prediction board. It was an early kick off at their place and was televised. We got almost battered for the entire match but somehow snook the ball in their net and they couldn't put one in our's. Their supporters were apoplectic after the game. How could this upstart of a club win a game against them. Not only that but we were top for a few hours.

Got to be possitive that history will repeat itself and we gain revenge for their 96th minute theft down here this season. I'm going for an Argyle win just for once.

It will be on mine! I presume the Monday game will be on Argyle TV…

It’s not Sky that’s preventing it being shown on Argyle TV abroad, it’s local broadcasters who are showing it too.

There are downsides to the TV revolution: the drunken walk the fixture list takes through the calendar, the reinforced domination of top flight clubs, erosion of support for local clubs and sky-high ticket prices but there have been benefits too.

The standard of play has improved astronomically. The proportion of British players has reduced but the quality has shot up to the point where the England team is a genuine force to be reckoned with. English clubs regularly win European trophies. EPL match attendances are high so something has gone right somewhere. In fact, stadiums have been vastly improved with higher capacities.

TV has put a lot in money into the game. Where it’s gone and what’s been done with it are a matter for the administrators, not the TV companies. Blame them if anyone.

As daft as it sounds looking at the stats and the battering we seem to have taken, the fact is we should have had a reverse of the final score. Had the lino not got it wrong for Mumba then they would not have scored a breakaway goal. Therefore logic says we should have had two and then one. Feel so sorry for the players.

That must hurt being denied a perfectly good goal....and moments later go one goal down......match official's don't you love em......a 35 second gap between our goal and there's .

    Southampton...2-1...Argyle.....F/T.

    Alcaraz 56 mins.....Adams 63 mins...........Hardie 90+1 mins.

I take a lot of heart from this: it shows we can defend against the best if we try.

Mumba was indisputably onside for the disallowed goal but then failed to hold the line for their second, which without him would have been offside and cost us a point,

If out goal had been given, which it should, they'd have had to kick off with 11 of us behind the ball, but as it was they broke away and scored. Very much a double whammy.

A much better away defensive performance against a top class side.

I've been sat here at home since the end of the game and have to admit am feckin annoyed and can't get over it. People constantly say that seasons even themselves out in the end but does anyone else think that our season is being wrecked by totally incompetent officials of one or another. How many points have we been seen off this season so far? It's got to be around the double figure mark now.

The standard of football in this league is a mile away from the stuff we have watched over the last few seasons but the officials have been no better and I'm really fed up with it now. I keep hearing that officials are "only human" and they don't deliberately make errors and only give what they see but that's total crap if you look at tonights offering. The word is incompetent not they make mistakes and are only human. The mistakes made cost Managers their job sometimes and owners a shed load of cash. It costs supporters a shed load of heartache yet these officials just swan on without a seeming care in the world. The FA allow it. I don't care how much we got battered tonight by a classier side. I don't care that the score, if you listen to Southampton supporters, could have been x, y or z. The fact is what you put into the net and that is the only stat that counts for anything. We scored a perfectly good goal. They kicked it off quickly when we were denied it and in no time had put it in the other end. That would not have happened had the goal been allowed to stand. Taking that goal away and adding one to our side of the sheet would have made the final score 1 = 2. We have been robbed another 3 points.

Most fans will complain about refereeing decisions but we really seem to be getting the dirty end of the stick.

Last night's denial of a valid goal. The non-goal given against us at Coventry, Scarr sent off, no sending off when Bundu was left needing surgery. Birmingham's first against us which stemmed from a clear offside which wasn't given....

    It's a disgrace.

I see the Southampton v Argyle match got in the national press today......was it for the below standard refereeing....of course not.....was it for the quality of the football...of course not.

So why did it get mentioned then ?

Headlines where........Martin 'snubs' PM after Saints victory.

Southampton manager Russell Martin appeared to snub Rishi Sunak at St Mary's Stadium last night after the Prime Minister watched the home side beat Plymouth 2-1 to maintain their Championship promotion push.

So fuss over nothing really...I doubt if either thought twice about it.....one was busy managing his team.....and the other just relaxing watching the team he follows when getting a chance.

The Press cannot allow the injustices of football or even a comment on the game getting in the way of a possible snub for the PM.....which might sell more papers.

The penalty area white line gave the line official the perfect marker for lining up a player being on-side or off-side.....so wasn't the line official up with play and saw it from a different angle having not even noticed the pitch markings ?

Even then there was a possibility that the player trying to mark Whittaker (who crossed the ball) was also putting Mumba on side with his trailing leg.....or were these two players blocking the line officials view....just like the other week when a last minute goal was allowed from a cross...when the ball was fully out of play for a goal kick ?

PS.....Repeat after me fifty times.....I must not be so cynical.....I must not be so cynical.....I must not be so
cynical..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................I must not be so cynical........phew that was hard work.

I also must remember that over a whole season these things tend to even out......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................COBBLERS TO THAT RUBBISH.

................................And when i'm at it.......I feel the Referee gave Southampton a big advantage by allowing them to take a quick free-kick....there were Argyle players the wrong end of the pitch having been celebrating a perfectly scored goal......no wonder that they gave another goal away not to long after.....it must of been difficult to unscramble your thoughts of injustice.

I don't think it's injustice as much as constant fiddling with the rules, a doomed search for perfection inspired by VAR and some incompetence.

If you take the Coventry incident, it was said that it was too far away for the linesman to see that the ball was completely over the line. That implies it could be seen that the majority of it was over the line and since the camera shows grass between the line and the ball, it must have been almost all of it. At what point does the lino have to make a decision and say that, on the balance of probabilities, it was out?

Conversely, the officials couldn't have seen that Mumba was offside because he wasn't, yet they've given a decision based on what...?
