We won this one last term. No reason why we can't repeat the feat. Been to Fleetwood although many many moons ago. Not the most wonderous of Towns but then again this is a flying visit for the team and they don't have to stay there. Get there, get the job done, get on the bus. Jobs a goodun..... COYG
Hard to make any judgement so early in the season if any game is winnable or not....but Argyle's form so far looks promising....so lets go for another win. Disappointing that Mickel Miller will be out for awhile.....he had looked a winner from what we had seen of him....but Mumba did a good job in his absence.....pre-season transfers have certainly strengthened the squad and might stop us folding like the end of last season. Never been to Fleetwood as far as I know....although I spent two years as a kid living on Walney Island...Barrow-in- Furness when my father was stationed at the local RAF station. PS.....Actually we didn't win last time at Fleetwood.....we managed to turn a 3-1 result into a 3-3 draw at the death. We've only ever won once there.
My Great Grandmother lived in Barrow-in-Furness and ran a Shrimping business from her kitchen. She was the tightest person I ever knew. She virtually owned the Street she lived in and Banked in a suitcase under her bed rather than a real Bank. The only thing she ever gave me was a bit of home made treacle toffee which she would shove into your mouth from a paper bag in her pocket. Not one penny would pass between. I hated treacle toffee home made or not. The only other thing I got was a rap on the knuckles with a walking stick if I tried to pinch a shrimp from the day's takings picked and potted on a great big round table in her kitchen. "Don't eat my profits" was the command that accompanied. If you stood outside her house and threw a stone in the right direction you would virtually reach Fleetwood {not quite but it is close by} Funnily enough I was never that kean to visit as a kid. ?The least we can do is bring back 3 points to ease the scars.
All I can remember about Walney Island and Barrow as a kid (1946/7) was the bridge leaving Barrow to go on to Walney Island and the dockyards nearby.....plus the hedge rows full of wild growing foxgloves that were taller than me.
Cooper, Gillesphey, Wilson, Scarr, Butcher, Edwards, Hardie, Mayor, Mumba, Azaz, Randell. Subs Burton, Houghton, Ennis, Whittaker, Lonwijk, Galloway, Jephcott. No changes from the last game.
Burton have a player sent off in the first minute. They are now one down as well. Gonna be a long afternoon for them.
2-1...F/T.......Five corners to Argyle at the end. Down to 13th......in the bottom half.....? Now up to 12th.
Well it’s a huge number of fouls started by 4 by Fleetwood in the 1st 10 minutes without reply from us. Is that the ref or the teams? Disappointing result either way
