Anyone else think this week has dragged? It seems a long time since the last match but it's nearly here. Weather forcast for Saturday isn't great. Windy is probably the worst part. The pitch drains so well nowadays that even a torrent wouldn't affect it much rain wise. Wasn't sure about getting a ticket for this one but glad I did now and quite looking forward to it. It's a bleddy long way for Carlisle to come. I can't see there being a massive away support for this. I once caught a train to rejoin a ship in Greenock and went through Carlisle some weird o'clock in the night. It was one of those trains that stopped everywhere and it was a horrible train ride. Apart from that have never been near the place. Mind you that was in the early 70's. Another bloke got in the carriage in Plymouth who was obviously p***ed and he slept all the way to Glasgow. A wise move and I wish I'd thought of it as well.
I will not be following this game as closely as usual......up to half-time ok....then will be popping around our sons for our grand-daughters 7th birthday family tea.....she'll be down the high street with her school mates lunch-time at some pizza joint........and tea time we'll believe it or not will have half a dozen pizzas delivered for our family tea.......with Charlton having a disasterous season at present (2nd from bottom) ....my son and grandson might not be checking on Charlton's progress so avidly as usual plus Argyle's..........the thought of Argyle being possibly down the Valley next season horrifies my grandson.....but at 10yrs old he doesn't know the half of it......the ups and downs of a teams fortunes. PS.....Whilst down the Tavistock area renting a cottage at half-term....they popped into Plymouth one day......and popped into the club shop and bought me an Argyle pen to say thanks for looking after his stick insects.....how weird are they......during the summer they where so small you had difficulty seeing the.....now there 5/6 inches long !
Sensible, we got to hope it is not a draw at the weekend.. that would be a bit of a drag and more fixtures.. We need a result.. Dont need to travel up there and its another game..
Momentum.....momentum.....momentum......treat every game the same.....never look beyond the next game.
Hope fully a nice win. but not a draw as it would be a disaster I see our Friend Mr Blatter is suffering stress.. Does he know what that is? "He is under tremendous pressure and perhaps this is a little bit difficult for a man who is not the youngest." Serve the Twat right! Hopefully he survives as he can have a bit more of it in Front of the Judge.. unless of Course he has given him an Envelope already!
And don't forget that the club will be Remembering the fallen prior to the match-and they are using a photo of me from last year as advertising (no payment). Think it might be close, but 2-1 to us.
Agree we don't want a draw even if that means a loss has to happen. It's all about league for me this season and cups are just a distraction at the moment. Just watched the second half of Salford v Notts C. Have to say Salford were much the better side despite being several leagues below. Notts don't do well on the tele do they.
Notts County never looked up for this match.....poor defending and just punting it up the field in hope.....Salford were quicker to the ball all evening......Div 2 football better than what County showed us tonight.
County were awful, anyone fancy Salford (at home)- assuming we win V Carlisle - nailed on for the TV....
Oh well, not much to report other than Argyle got exactly what we deserved from the match- absolutely nothing. No excuses, DA went with his full strength team with the only change being Simpson replacing the injured Boateng. An early misplaced pass from Sawyer that nearly gave Carlisile the lead set the tone for the afternoon and the remainder of the game was littered with poor passes, missed tackles and numerous occasions of giving the ball to the opposition. For whatever reason we were simply not up for it and Carlisle were better than us from front to back and played the better football. Once they had gone two up they killed the game off and Argyle never threatened; I am struggling to remember if we actually had a shot on target. Hopefully it was just bad day at the office-thought DA might have changed things a bit earlier but as it was, the changes were too little too late and made no difference. Chance to bounce back on Tuesday- sure the manager will expect (and demand) a reaction.
We were terrible. That's about it really. It was like watching Argyle last season instead of this one.
So much for the magic of the FA Cup.........no shots on target......how can that be so......why weren't we up for this game. Did Carlisle target Carey and Tanner and in so doing rub out any attacking threat from Argyle......we are definately weak up front without Reuben Reid playing..........with over five months of the season left we will need to address that problem quickly.
Unless I'm very much mistaken, this is only the second occasion when we've played a team who've already played us once. I wonder if they rumbled us..... Your starter for ten; who else have we played twice this season? Well done, now for 5 points, when will we next play a team for the second time in 2015/16?
Well we've played AFC Wimbledon twice and on the 21st Nov... Exeter will come around for the second time. They seem to have sussed out the importance yesterday of stopping Carey and Tanner from playing.....and without the experienced Reid up front we struggled to show any other way of scoring.
I don't think it was what they did it was more what we didn't do and that was play anywhere near as we can. I would be hard pressed to pick anyone from Argyle as their man of the match. Don't think Carey was marked out of anything and Tanner just never got into the game at all. It was very disappointing to have made the effort to get a ticket and go to watch that sort of crap. It's not as if Carlisle were World beaters either but they didn't have to be very good to win. The Ref was crap as well but that's just normal and not an excuse. Very bad day at the office. I am just grateful it was a cup game and not 3 points lost.
Derek Adams said that Hallam Hope who scored Carlisle's second goal.....had been one of his targets recently to cover for Reuben Reid during his time out injured,......BUT we couldn't afford him......and us with a small squad as well......I wonder what will happen in January......will players have to leave before anyone can come in.....we have a good idea who might be targets for teams wanting to strengthen for the push for promotion.....question is would we still be contenders ourselves by then....injuries are stretching our resources now.....especially up front.......we cannot expect our defence to continually save our bacon.
Hi hector welcome to 606......better to have a small squad of quality....than lots of mediocre players.
