This is a game with a bit of a difference for Argyle. We are still up there pitching and will be busting a gut to win a game and almost secure a play off place. Burton on the other hand have nothing to play for now. Not going up and not going down. The difference for this game is knowing which Burton will turn up and not which Argyle will turn up. That is the normal with Argyle isn't it where we sort of doubt what the team will do on match day. I'm not going to doubt them this time and am going to assume they will be well up for it. The doubt is with Burton and wondering how much they will want to win. Apparently this is another one of those "we have never won there" matches. We put a couple of long standing results to bed this season so is this another one we can kill off? I think we can no matter which Burton is on the pitch. I'm going for victory and for a couple of others to falter. Some are in a cannot lose situation for their games this weekend. COYG
Argyle's...Burton away record.....P6.....W0.....D3...L3.....F4.....A7.....Pts 3. Good time to win our first away game at Burton A.
Of course it's no guide but even you must acknowledge notdistant that there are just some clubs that other clubs find almost impossible to overcome no matter what. Don't know why that should be but it does happen. Anyway this is the season we undo all of those types so why worry.
Well Manchester City v Darlington may show a trend that's likely to be repeated I agree. Schumacher did say they're "strong and powerful" and "strong and physical" and that their pitch is "not easy to play on" so we know what to expect. But then, we know what they sing about Dan Scarr don't we?
Cooper, Law, Gillesphey, Scarr, Wilson, Edwards, Mayor, Houghton, Camara, Garrick, Ennis. Subs Burton, Broom, Grant, Sessegnon, Randell, Jephcott, Crichlow. Grant fit enough to be on the bench......Bolton and Hardie still out.
Argyle claims for a goal in 2nd minute turned down by the ref following a discussion with the lino. Where is VAR when you need it?
0 - 0 and a bore. Not the usual for us is it but there is a lot of complaints about the pitch being small and crap surface. Could have been worse though with other results today. Wonder if the 2nd minute goal was or wasn't and if we will see on the football shows.
Tight game: Burton started without a recognised striker on the pitch and with a man marker on Mayor. Argyle struggled to play their game under that stifling pressure. Another robust performance by the back 3 has earned a clean sheet and an away point. Other results haven't gone against us so still very much in our hands. I'll take that.. on to the next.
I've just been looking at the league table and if my workings are right then there are only 2 teams left outside the play offs currently that can catch Argyle or rather knock them out of it. We play one of them on Friday.
From what was seen on the video Burton possibly had the better chances....but good keeping by Cooper kept them out. The goal chance we had in the first minute was hard to decide anything from the camera angle we saw it from......a goal line view would have been interesting.....where is goal line technology when you want it.
