Well here we are at a sort of crossroads of the season with what can only be described as, not a 6 pointer , but at the very least a must win game. I'm not even going to speculate which Argyle will turn up this week or how this one will go but I might have to take a blindfold with me to cover my eyes on Saturday. It might get a bit tense............. You can do this Argyle. COYG
Will Adams keep two of his best players on the bench again and then give them just a few minutes....with Adams again claiming that we were the best side as we lose again. PS.....Bradford did come back from 2-0 down against Peterborough on Saturday for a 2-2 draw....ominous for us.
I don't consider the cup competition and league form to be the same thing plym. We nearly came back from 2 down ourselves and to be honest were the better team on that day. We really should have won it and on another day probably would have.
Your right about league and cup form not really relating to each other.....BUT we're talking about Argyle here.....
Your thoughts on the Taylor/Ladapo and Joel Grant/Lameiras debates Sensible...? Sent from my mobile phone - E&OE
Play both is my first instinct with the forwards. Grant fades badly after an hour but then again so does Lameiras. I would play Grant for the first half and Lameiras for the second. That way you would get one complete player for the whole of the game.
Taylor plays with his back to goal...Ladapo plays facing goal....there chalk and cheese really....if one comes off for the other... the whole team set-up changes.....so play them both. Ladapo playing behind Taylor, waiting for his knock downs. Lameiras is mid-field whilst J Grant plays down the left touchline. Carey playing down the right touch trying to turn in field to use his lethal (at times) left foot. These five on the starting eleven all the time.
Plym you can't play Lameiras in midfield. His work rate is insufficient to leave Sarcevic or Ness out and Fox is one of the unsung heroes with his passing. The only way I could see anything like that happening is (leaving out the back 4) is: Sarcevic Carey Ness Ladapo Lameiras Taylor
I repeat that Grant and Lameiras offer two different things to the cause but neither seems to be a 90 minute player. Grant often has a good first half but the player who we see in the second seems a completely different man. Don't know what it is be he is never effect for the full term. I would therefore use those 2 as stand-ins for each other rather than play them together. That way we get the best of both players and also we change the way we are playing.
The weather forecast for tomorrow afternoon is bleddy awful. Rain and high winds and the weather map showing 50+ on the wind speed. That is not football weather in anyones book and will make it interesting. Sounds like a shoot first and ask questions after sort of weather. Could end up a cricket score all around.
