Why build the team around Wilshire when Fabregas is our best player?

    so like this?

    -----------Szczesny-----------
    -Sagna-Samba-Koscielny-Gibbs-
    -----------Vermaelen----------
    -Walcott---Wilshere---Arshavin-
    -----v.Persie---[attacker]------

Assuming Clichy, Fabregas and Nasri leave. Buying an attacker

Careful. Your "beautiful football" might soon turn into Man City's "Park the bus and rely on the lone striker" tactic.

    No!!!!!!!!

Has anyone seen TV play as a DM??

If we signed two CBs I would expect Vermaelen to play LB. Clichy looks ever more likely to leave and Gibbs isn't good enough, nor does he stay fit long enough.
Playing Vermaelen at left back would add defensive stability, extra height, and enough attacking ability. He played LB for Ajax and plays there for Belgium and is very accomplished at LB.

Unlike most, I don't think he is a great CB. His goals disguised his defensive faults in his first season, but the faults were there for everyone to see. When we signed him as a CB the Dutch and Belgium people were shocked, as he was never considered a great CB.

I think we need a combatitive midfielder, but Vermaelen is not it (nor Scott Parker or Felipe Melo, imo).

I get depressed when so many Arsenal fans consistently put Walcott in the starting line-up. :(

He's a regular minute 75' substitute at best.

Wouldn't say he is accomplished at LB as i'm not convinced he has the stamina or attacking skills needed to be good there.

I have seen it be a success with other players e.g. Pepe and Vertonghen.
