Reportedly out for 3 months, back stress fracture. New CB needed?

Story has come from the notorious bullshitter Wayne Veysey, so hopefully he hasn't broken any trend here.

I still don't think CB is a priority. Sagna impresses me whenever he plays there and Miquel is decent imo.

Thankfully this story was a load of bollocks, because if TV was injured, then we would had to rely on Arsene spending some actually money in this transfer window. <yikes>

We don't beed a CB. Miquel and Sagna are adequate cover.

Miquel is not in any shape or form an adequate cover. He is way too weak and slow at the moment, and more than anything needs a loan spell in order to get game time . Sagna has played at CB twice. Once against Sunderland and the other against an pub side in Asia, so it's hard to judge his quality at CB.

Sagna has all the attributes to play at CB, I actually think he will do a better job there than at RB. Would rather Jenkinson is 1st choice RB this season and Sagna can cover at RB/CB when required.

Have to disagree. Sagna at his best is one of the best RB's in the world.

I do think he'd make a good emergency CB though, he's a good defender.

Agree that Sagna is one of the best RB's there is. Nothwithstanding his injuries in the last couple of seaons, he's been solid for us. Also he has bags of experience and is a key player for Arsenal at the moment. I also agree that he could be a good CB, when he played there before he did well. He's more like Koscielny though and lacks height, but as mentioned he is good defender and understands the game.

Sagna last season was not the same as pre leg break. He has lost a yard of pace and his game on the ball has completely deteriorated. His passing and crossing his dismal and he is often beaten in 1 on 1's with pacy/tricky wingers. I think Jenkinson is ready to take his spot, he put in a enough good performances last season to show that he deserves a chance there, at least.

It is a good problem to have though, we have 4 top full backs who all feel they are worthy of a place in the team. 18 months or so ago we were playing Djourou and Coquelin at full back.

He was awesome against Sunderland in high-pressure situation. That was the best I saw Arsenal defend all of last season. Fantastic to watch.

I think a new signing is needed in that department with Squillaci being released :1980_boogie_down: Djourou out on loan :1980_boogie_down: and TV injured and Miquel not yet ready IMO. Ashley Williams would be a great back up and squad rotation player but i dont think we will sign him because Wenger/Gazidis don't want to pay the extra £1/2 million.

Ashley Williams won't join us unless he is guaranteed 1st team football, he is captain of Wales, there is no way we are going to sign him unless Vermaelen is being sold.

We were being linked to some highly rated Croat youngster (Jedvaj or something like that), I wouldn't be opposed to signing a promising youngster as 4th choice, but otherwise I don't think we should spend big on somebody there, we have 3 good CBs and Sagna can play there, too. That is enough cover for me.
