I think the Vermaelen/Kos partnership is the best partnership for our defence as I believe that they are our 2 best centre backs. I notice a lot of people are arguing that a Mert/Vermaelen pairing would be better and argue that Kos and Vermaelen are two similar. The video below shows that they are somewhat different in the roles and therefore complement each other as a paring. The video is pretty harsh on Vermaelen's performance given that he has only recently come back. yea, basically TV is a defensive defensive mid, charging forward to win the ball before the opposition really get chance to start the attack on the defence and kossy reads the play so well and intercepts and ofcourse has immense tackling
Yeah I think our defence is starting to really gel together and with the like of Mert in reserve im pretty happy, weve still got Gibbs and Sagna to comeback so the defence is pretty solid overall
Agreed. I think it was always going to take time for Mert, Santos and Jenkinson to settle anyway, let alone being thrown in at the deep end togehter right at the start of the season because of injuries. They've all done alright in my opinion and now they are getting better and gelling with the team, don't forget we've got new midfielders and attacking players too, all in the team for the first time together. It's no wonder we struggled at the start.
