Arsenal are in talks with Leicester City in an attempt to try to sign striker Jamie Vardy.

The Gunners' bid for the 29-year-old England international is reported to be in the region of £20m and has triggered the release clause in his contract.

Vardy scored 24 goals in the Premier League for Leicester as the Foxes won the 2015-16 title.

The forward, who is currently preparing for Euro 2016, joined City for £1m from Fleetwood in 2012.

Vardy rose through non-league football after being released by Sheffield Wednesday at 16 for being too small, and was named the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year for 2015-16.

Since making his England debut in 2015, he has scored three times in eight internationals.

Arsenal, who finished second in the league, 10 points behind Leicester, have already signed Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Does anybody think hes just had a freak season or is he really that good?
More to the point will he stay loyal?

His style of play suited Leicester down to the ground and they utilised him brilliantly.

It won't work for him at Arsenal IMO, completely different style of play.

The lad's had an outstanding season, but I think this would be a bad move for Arsenal.

He should stay where he is. Arsenal will be better off with the likes of Morata to join in with the oh so pretty tippy tappy football.

    Smashing player.....For Leicester.

He will be 30 in Jan. Think maybe to old for Arsenal. This move makes no sense.

He should stay with Leicester and have a crack at the CL and defending the Prem title.

    But money talks.

If I was them I'd sell him for 20 in a shot. He's the sort who could get found out. Don't give him space to run into and he's half the player.

Totally agree with Giacc. Arsenal to my way of thinking want to score the perfect goal by walking it into the net. Theirs styles are a total mismatch.

Totally disagree. He's a great scorer from 2 yards. Just the sort of walk-it-into-the-box-to-2-yards-Arsenal player that Arsenal needs!

He could probably do a job for Arsenal but his age is probably against him. Don't they have a policy of only giving 1 year contracts to the over 30s? It'd be a daft move for him. Plus, despite his amazing season, I don't think he's Arsenal quality. Leicester's strength was that they worked very well as a team- they were greater than the sum of their parts- I can't see many of that team thriving outside of that environment.

Vardy's key asset is that shirt burst of pace, and playing for Leicester that's been a massive asset running in behind.

Arsenal don't get space in behind as teams sit deep against them, Vardy's key asset would be weakened.

From a Leicester perspective you'd snap their hands off for £20million, he will not be near last seasons level consistently.

They need somebody, they're not a big enough club to attract Zlatan even with CL football to offer.

60,000 and champions league football, plus the midfield in the premier league(Oxlaid chamberlain, wiltshere, ozil, Walcott, Giroud) the list goes on, he might win the champions league with them !. Theres a bet Vardy to score in the champions league final AGAINST Leicester.

ESPN are saying he's,having a medical on Sunday, bet this news pisses off the Leicester fans.
If I were him I'd give the champions league a go with Leicester just to repay the club who gave him the chance at the top level, but then again these are footballers were talking about here, no loyalty anymore.

If ever there was a player who owed a club nothing it's him.

Disagree Tel, Leicester gave him his big chance and I just think players, should show some gratitude for that. Perhaps I'm old fashioned but remember lots of players, with longevity at clubs which doesn't happen anymore, like I say I may be past my sell by date.

Leicester will forever be in his debt mate as far as I'm concerned, he's helped give them a PL trophy that they could have only dreamed of.

Regardless of this though, an unhappy player isn't worth keeping in any team.

Although id like to see him stay he's cracking on in age terms for a player. So big pay day.

    Id take it.
