That’s an absolute joke of a decision, VAR needs scrapping
By all accounts it was given for off side and not for a foul and if that was the case then you could say it was a marginal decision with the Scottish player being off side but had no real impact on the goal so if was not interfering then it probably should have stood. Again VAR should only be used to correct mistakes and obvious errors which this was not and should not be used to referee the game.
Just seen the ruled out Burnley goal, if it's on a knife edge and they clearly don't know for sure, as shown by the length of the stoppage, just let it stand for ****s sake. Such a broken system.
see them every week and it seems like every game, millimeters off side is not a 'clear and obvious error' they have turned it into a mockery, the fans sang it right.
I haven't seen that one but by all accounts it took 5 whole minutes to sort it out.
They can **** off if they think fans want to hang about for 5 mins for a decision. Absolute farce.
A time limit would help. If it's taking 5 minutes to sort with the benefit of replays from every angle then it's clearly not a clear and obvious error.

It was one of them where you're talking about a millimetre either way and nobody could agree, and if that wasn't ridiculous enough in itself the system isn't accurate enough to allow that level of scrutiny.
Anything like that should stand, Burnley were robbed.

Yep. It works fine in other countries. Worked fine at the World Cup for the most part.
Those places don't have as much money bet on them though......
the burnley one took over 5 minutes because those doing the VAR started with lines set at the wrong angle, i mean if it is that easy to 'offset' the guidelines there is no hope for it to be 100% fair and accurate.
easy to move a line to show onside/offside if that is the case, there was nowt wrong with the way it has always been except the 'experts' found a new toy (camera angles) to play with and started the league positions if decisions had gone differently...and i dare bet you now they did not watch every game for the full 90 with every camera angle shot to make sure.

VAR is not the problem, it is the officials using the system poorly

VAR is the problem IMO. It assumes to do jobs it cannot do.
It cannot possibly get offsides right. It uses random angles, using lines thicker than the ball with no real reference to when the ball was played, just a fuzzy image, arbitrarily interpreted.
The tech is just not there and football does not have the humility to learn from other sports who have used similar for far longer. We regularly see and hear rules being made up on the hoof just to make VAR look okay.
And even all of it's multiple and obvious flaws aren't the worst of it. The worst of it is that it deprives the paying spectator of the moment they go for. The immediate second after a goal has been taken away and replaced with a more hopeful celebration.
Awful thing, and it is ruining football.
Yes they do it better. But they are dealing with actual film of events, and don't seek to impose external factors such as wobbly offside lines onto them.
And they still missed a pass on Friday night by Argentina that was nearly two foot forward and led to a try!

If no. 20 scored, yeah, I'd give offside. However, Nunez has half of his foot past the defender, that in my eyes is level. Why are we measuring in centimetres? Needs binning.
