So...what are people thoughts on this?

I'm not sure I'm a fan of them bringing it in. Seems to be another way of sucking all the fun out of football to me. Agree this technology works well in some other sports and I think the goaline technology decisions work well but this feels a step to far to me.

There is however definitely some unconscious bias towards the 'big' teams from match officials. Maybe it would help level the playing field a bit...

    Anyway what does everyone think?

It’s a no brainier for me. Cuts out the bullshit.
For years folk have said that the big clubs get all this favouritism.
VAR will answer this once and for all.
I really cannot see the problem with ironing out inconsistencies.

It will also help raise refereeing standards.

I can see both sides of the debate...it takes away the 'human' element but will also help to cut out mistakes in decision making. That said, not everything is black and white, even for VAR, some penalty decisions or hand balls could still be subjective. But in the main, it will cut out mistakes.

Get on with it, bring it in, iron out the flaws, cut the crappy decisions.

Would have killed us on the weekend, but I still think it's necessary.

With the levels of finance involved in football now, VAR is something that MUST happen.

Refs need the help because poor decisions can affect not only individual players, but eventually the whole football club.

Officials are getting death threats and constant abuse the moment they get something wrong. It's a sad state of affairs but it's there none the less.

Eradicate the mistakes from football, highlight the cheats / divers and then perhaps we will get the footballing landscape of the future that we need.

I’m for it for all the reasons mentioned above but there are clear issues already that need ironed out. Waiting for the ball to go out of play in the Chelsea-Arsenal before reviewing the penalty was ridiculous, it has to be reviewed straight away.

We also don’t want to get into a situation where Referees lose confidence/future referees rely on it completely. It should aid the ref, not become it.

Good point that's going to be a bit of a challenge that isn't quite the same in rugby for instance. Are the refs going to have to blow up to look at some decisions?

Ideally, someone should be looking at this constantly and then telling the ref.

But there's so much cheating going on these with players diving, for example, that they have only brought it on themselves.

If it makes Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher redundant then bring it on. They are the epitome of all that is wrong in modern day punditry, not to mention the fact that they are both a couple of massive ****ing ball bags.

I'm for it but to be honest they need to get much better at using it. When they used it in the junior world cup etc it was a farce. They were still getting things wrong after watching the video <laugh> It is taking too long too. I suppose football is not really like rugby, cricket or tennis with the natural breaks. So those delays seem a bit of a chew on.
