This supposed movement by the refereeing authorities to allow a bit more of the rough and tumble to be accepted, which is intended to keep the game flowing, will jump up and bite the hands of change. I will agree about a possible foul on the Leicester player prior to the sending off and I assume the new dictate allowed the play to continue when I think it could have been called by the ref. At some time in the near future the offside rule which allows the play to continue, even though someone was clearly in an offside position, could result in an injury which should have been prevented.
Why are the people running the leagues have this non-stop desire to change the rules on an annual basis for a sport that has been in existence for years with the same rules? It's all starting to sound and feel very American so perhaps a new sport is on it's way where they can claim world champion status for the game of football that nobody else plays. Are time-outs and sin-bins soon to come along with TV breaks and ads to disrupt the flow of the game? It can never again be the sport that I grew up with and in a lot of instances there have been huge improvements but the money being spent to bring us the enjoyment of the football that we all love is really getting up my nose.
