The Gunners and England forward was on fine form on Saturday setting up the skipper's opening two goals in the 7-1 mauling of Blackburn on Saturday, and also laid on the pass for Oxlade-Chamberlain's second. Walcott now has 16 assists in all competitions this season (8 in the league) which is actually a very good return. But Walcott's lack of goals this season - he's scored just six times in all competitions - has seen the England international cop some flak from the north Londoners' supporters. Van Persie, however, "cannot understand the criticism" of the 22-year-old and reckons people are forgetting how talented he is and how hard he works for the team. "I love him, I honestly love him," said the Dutch striker. "Theo was sharp, he was playing fantastically and, like anyone, he misses chances - but I miss chances. Ronaldo misses chances, Messi misses chances. It is life, you know. "Sometimes I feel that people are a bit harsh on him. I don't know why. If you look at his assists rate then it is unbelievable. "Theo will score. Trust me, he will score. He will get 20 goals at least every season. You will see. He will, trust me. Have faith in him."
Did you see his 1st touch of the game? Where he went to control it and ended it booting it out of play. Hilarious. One of the worst touches by anyone I have seen this season and possibly ever. However, he did have a good game. He's been very poor recently, but he is a useful player.
Without Cesc and even Jack, Walcott has not been able to run onto passes that are made through defences like the one Song played for the 2nd goal. For some reason against Blackburn we finally could get him in behind their defence. Maybe it was the lack of pressing by Blackburn or one of those days where all the passes found their target. But I doubt any of our current midfield can keep playing quality passes ala Cesc and to a lesser extent Wilshere. Without a doubt we need a creative play maker.
Im with RVP on this one, too many people are on his back like he's the worst thing ever. I think he will be the one to watch against AC Milan.... However, there is one thing in RVP's statement that makes me wonder if Walcott will soon be playing in the middle. "Theo will score. Trust me, he will score. He will get 20 goals at least every season. You will see. He will, trust me. Have faith in him." How else will he be able to score at least 20 goals a season? Im probably grabbing at straws here.
RVP is right, too many of our fans are quick to dish out the criticism without recognising how much Walcott offers to Arsenal.
don't forget he's only 22 aswell! Lennon whose basically the same (small speedy) has 2/3 + years on him and is half as good! AND lennon is in his preferred position
don't agree - there are dozens of men in the public arena who have 'hot' wives and still shag around......
