Are we in the process of seeing Nasri Part 2? Van Persie is refusing to sign an extension to his contract and seems that City is first in the queue of clubs picking him up. The financial fairplay thing cannot come soon enough. It seems that City will pick up any good player with money no object. Arsenal will keep going down the footballing ladder even if financially they are keeping their house in order. I cannot see Arsenal in the top 4 this season. Spurs all the way.
Except that's not true. What he actually said was: “I’m happy with my contract, I’m good. That’s how it is, I can’t say much more. I can’t look into the future. I can’t say we are talking now because we are so busy – we have games every three or four days.” That's not the same as 'refusing to sign a new contract' is it?
oh well january sales will be good next year when city have to offload half their squad of disgruntled mercenaries who can't get 30 seconds of 1st team football.
RVP has suggested that he will talk about renewing his contract with Arsenal at the end of the season 'I still have almost two years, so for the moment that's fine. I'm happy with my contract. I can't look into the future. I can't see us talking now because we are so busy - we have games every three or four days.' 'Maybe we will leave it until the end of the season,'
That is actually what Nasri did. He kept saying he was going to sign it at the end of the season. Everythings fine, just a formality, I'll be signing it at the end of the season. Then City come sniffing and thats it. Although, I would be surprised if City were to go after him, he has a remarkable ability to get injured extremely often and quite seriously and also, I reckon they have enough strikers in that squad. He'll go to an Italian club or PSG in my opinion.
He will be going nowhere soon, he has 2 yers left on his deal and will be 30 then, he will do well to get another big time contract at Arsenal, never mind the others mentioned, this is only being made an issue right now because his form is so good. I'd like to think he has a bit more loyalty than Nasri, he's been with us 7 years, the club have stuck by him also throughout an injury plagued career. City have more than enough attackers though that does not seem to bother them and they just take who they want if even to weaken the opposition. Fair play to RVP on getting his ton up Sat, I think thats what we should be talking about and leave the contract issue on the shelf for now.
Mmmm what he's really saying is, lets see what we do and if we are in a good position, i will sign a new contract, if not, ill go. He is running out of time and im sure wants to win things. Our squad is back to "potential" again, so it means waiting another few years for success. This is something he clearly hasn't got.....
I have just read this, i know papers like to publish transfer rumours, but its now all over the place.
RVP is quite a regular 'tweeter', is that the correct term ? Anyone following him will probably see a response today, and I would expect it would be along the lines of ignore the newspaper report...
I'll say if he does not committ this season, SELL HIM! Exactly what Nasri did, let's wait until the end of the season blah blah.... What example does that send to the team, if your captain is refusing to comitt himself long-term.... 2YR contract remaining for a key player is nothing..... because with a year left your hands will be forced.... Sods law will state his injuries are behind him, he will go on to have a blinding season and we'll still not be able to keep him.... Who knows if he was only with us for 7yrs because of his appalling injury record and none of the big teams were interested in taking a chance on him....
And who is going to get the goals for us between now and the end of the season if we sell him? qualifying for the Cl is worth what we will get for him in tranfer fee and we have no chance of doing that without him. Give the guy a break, he's just scored his ton, has 2 years left on his contract, even if he see's that out the goals and assists he will bring in the meantime will be worth it. No point selling another big name and leaving the money in the bank for Silen Stan to count, thats exactly what will happen if we sell him.
If you saw his celebration against Barca last year where he ran over and hugged Wenger you would see why this is all nonsense. RVP is Arsenal through and through - he loves this club more than any other player at the club imo and he will be kept no matter what.
I guess that is a positive way of looking at it.... No money for silent Stan count.... I am not too unhappy for him run down his contract now .
