If Van Gaal is to come, then it would appear that Rodgers is the missing link as he already has a good relationship with Van Gaal and Clarke.

Having spent a lot of time in Spain, Rodgers appears to have adopted the Barca style - press high up the pitch and recycle possession so I think he may have an ally in Pep Segura and Borrell (who both come from Barca).

Could be inspired! Not sure that we have the players to execute so would make an interesting close season!! All still speculation right now though, although I do believe that this (or very similar) has some legs <ok>

Brendan won 1 home game in 11 at Reading before he was sacked. He came to Swansea and tinkered with a team that was working well together and had been playing together for years.

Huge risk imo

Ta! I wonder if there's anything to it? That looks like a good set up.

As LFC-009 said, the links all seem to be there, whether there's any truth in it is a different question. I wouldn't mind that set up.

Liverpool have renewed attempts to discuss their vacant managerial post with Swansea's Brendan Rodgers.

“We would like to confirm that there has been no contact from Liverpool and nothing has changed since our previous statement on the issue”

Swansea City statement on Monday

Owner John W Henry arrived on Merseyside on Tuesday to personally oversee the recruitment process.

Having spoken to Wigan manager Roberto Martinez, Liverpool have gone back to Rodgers to discuss the position.

Rodgers 39, met Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins on Tuesday morning but the Welsh club insist the manager's future was not discussed.

Martinez has yet to hear back from Liverpool, but Henry is understood to have been impressed with him when the pair met in Miami last week and was keen to speak to him a second time.

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has given Liverpool until Thursday to decide whether they will offer the Spaniard a contract.

Swans boss Rodgers is open to negotiations having been assured he is a genuine contender, though no deal has yet been agreed at this stage.

Liverpool have, however, spoken with representatives of Rodgers, to impress on the Northern Irishman just how highly they rate him.

I agree it would be a risk, but to be honest most Liverpool fans would agree we played some excellent football last season (apart from a few exceptions), without the end product. So, if Rodgers can tinker with it a little, and improve results I'd be happy. Don't forget we are also talking about a whole new set up in terms of DOF etc. with Van Gaal seemingly favourite, which may also be a risk!

I echo your thoughts, also if it is an argument against having Rogers over Martinez, didn't Martinez lose 9 games in a row this season. No matter who we bring in, they would have had a bad season/run before.

On Topic, I'd be happy with that setup

Rant-On

Off Topic, Not sure anyone else saw it, but watching SSN in the morning, they were asking Kerry Dixon about the Chelsea managers situation, he had a sly dig at us by say that the Chav’s will keep quite and make an announcement when they have something to say, fair enough, but then says our search was shambolic... err? how did he work that out?
The only comments about our search for a new manager are by that idiot DW and the hacks that are wildly guessing who/what the setup of our management team will be going forward, as far as I can see, we've gone about it the right way, kept quite and asked for permission to speak to managers that are under contract, other than the odd photo of JWH with RM in Miami, hard to stop such things making it into the public domain with the likes of Facebook and Twitter nowadays, we've made no comment, and I like that, LFC will let the fans and world know when there's something to tell them!

Rant-Off

It is ridiculous, even our own fans are listening to the tripe in the media and on twitter and calling it embarrassment. Also the thing with Chelsea is that they actually have someone at the helm who just won them a CL and fans who sing his name, it's nothing short of shambolic to even consider looking for someone else. Unusual really considering Chelsea cover themselves in dignity with the way they treat their managers. <sarcasm><ok>

Liverpool's old way was promote from with in. What if Rogers will work under Van Gaal with the prospect of taking over...

Or maybe them side by side.

Or even, if Rogers becomes manager, he could have the perfect adviser in Van Gaal if things start to go wrong.
