Sound lad - he thinks he needs to work harder to get into the side then only good for SAFC. The one thing that strikes me as strange is the fact that he calls his country "Holland" - I have been there 3 times and, when speaking to the English, Dutch people have always called it the Netherlands!

Other than that - quality stuff from someone who started life shakily at the back but seems to have improved immensely.

All in all - definitely a bargain at £1.5m!

I have no doubts about the lad, he'll come good.
After donkey's years, at last we have our own specialist lb.
Would love to have kept Alonso, but hey ho, we move on.
Very astute piece of business if you ask me.

Absolutely, maybe he could advise Jozy how to progress?

It's early days but bringing this lad in is looking like great business so far. With him and Jones pushing on at full-back we have genuine pace and threat from the back, and PVA's defending has come on a treat with an extended run of games.

I could advise Jozy! Would be a short meeting ended with "Don't let the door injure your arse on the way out"

I have to say mate, I've been very impressed with Billy Jones.
Hopefully when we get Alvarez, Coates & Giaccarini back & up to standard we can push on.
I'm looking forward to this season.

Definitely mate, it was a very shrewd addition, I was actually disappointed to see Bardo go, but Jones is a solid pro who offers a lot going forward. He frees up Vergini to play cb as well, now that he's adapted to the pace of PL. I can't remember us looking so solid for a long time, and when we get those lads back in we should be in a good place to put a run together. <ok>

Indeed, I too was sorry to see Bardo go but we haven't really missed him.
I also think Alvarez could be a hell of a player, just a pity he got that knock.
Norman Stanley has looked good in his last two games for the Jocks & if we can get Rodwell firing on all cylinders we could be in for a canny season.

I agree. And, I don't think that a top half finish is a lot to ask for, or beyond our reach, the way we're progressing.

Probably because we say Holland and he's in England. Very respectful to our culture, and a player whom I'm very impressed with.
