spent the day at the training ground today. was really good. whole thing was really well thought through. The idea of Ben something or other who started in February and came from Arsenal. Anyone know his name? - he was a really nice guy. Gave me his own pen when we had to write down questions for the players later in the day and then told me to keep it. Found out today they are putting in for planning permission for a new training complex on the same site at the back which at the moment is just shrubbery and trees. apparently multi million pound project with the aim of leaving something for the club to hang on to for years. its also to help get category 1 academy status. they had artists impressions and the like so it looks like its been in the pipeline for a while. Quite surprised to see a lot of use of portacabins and wooden shacks for different purposes. these would all go if they get approval from the council to build it - there "for" argument is that its bringing employment and helping the youth of the area so i suspect they have a good chance of getting it. had a question and answer with piggott, harriott and cousins. hearing from these 3 i was assured that my £100 odd quid VG money was worth spending. they're all really decent. i'd hope if anyone on here had a spare bit of disposable income they sign up too - you can see the direct impact of your money. there's a wall of past youth players in the media suite. plus it isnt quite £100 if you buy a season ticket and shirt (get discount on both). SCP popped in at the end to say thanks for coming and being part of VG. he did a little question and answer. some good ones - i asked about the contracts. he said its an ongoing process and he's sure some will gradually. he wants the players sorted before he sorts his one out too. others asked about takeovers - he said we're prime for a takeover (not happening now) because of where and what we are and he's surprised it hasnt happened sooner. on the upside. the coolest guy on the planet (SCP) is a breaking bad fan. man's got taste.
Seems to explain why The Doctor hasn't signed a new contract, he won't sign one until the players' contracts are sorted. I hope we're not going to see too much brinkmanship. it could backfire.
