No. He still said it was his turn to score on sunday and he still kept the ball once and ended up somehow spooning his shot over thr bar. But he is slower so has to offer up the assists cos he can't go himself as much
well he’s certainly proving he’s not a particularly good one. Look at what Klopp did in the first 3 years. He may not have been perfect, but he got us to a champion league final. We had progression and Klopp then bought the players in Alisson and Virgil that allowed us to slow our style of play down. Klopp knew he had to adapt and did so and bought players. Ten Haag has no really style and the players he keeps buying for a lot of money leave a lot to be desired.
Ten hag is a strange case. I don't rate his tactics at all. I don't rate his man management I don't rate his player choices. Yet there he is sat with 2 cups. Now obviously even fat Frank lampard got to a fa cup final v arsenal but lost it. Maybe ten hag is a lucky manager but luck runs out over thr course of a long season and you generally end up where you deserve to be. Don't like onana Their new rb I'll reserve judgment but think alot is probably better. Buying de ligt when you had slab head seems stupid
I honestly can't work out Ten Hag from What I've seen of him at Man utd. One quote of his that does say a lot is where he said he can't get Man utd to play like his Ajax side, but even that raises more questions than answers. It does suggest that the club aren't giving him what he wants, but I get a very Mourinho vibe from him with his reasoning and excuses, which would really annoy me if he was our manager.
Therein lies the problem maybe - he's trying to make his players into something they're not. Anyway, would Ajax themselves fare much better in the PL? They're hardly European royalty these days.
That’s why he’s just buying ex Ajax players onana mazrouri de ligt martinez Their keeper and 3 out of 4 defenders are all ex Ajax. Said this few days ago, and that quote seems to back it up that he’s trying to get his team to play like Ajax but it seems he can’t actually coach players to do it. You see Ange come into spurs and immediately get players playing a certain way. de Zerbi exactly the same at Brighton. They didn’t do it by getting rid and signing all their old players, they just coached it into them. Does make me wonder if he actually coached that style into his Ajax players of if he just inherited a team that played that way and just continued in his reign because couldn’t do any different.
I have no idea. But what was the style and why has he not explained exactly what he would like as a player in each position to his technical director and scouts "I want a keeper who can pass." "OK, here are 5" "No I want onana" "OK,. Fine" Then de ligt. "I want a slow cb who is tall" " you've got maguire" "No I want someone else" "Here's Johnny Evans, club legend" "Wtf are you on. Get de ligt" "OK" Is thst how it went down? Surely if the pattern is every position he wants an Anthony or soem ex ajax player who is **** then he'd be gone by now. They got him.holjund. "Can I have a tall cf who's made of glass?" "You have martial" "No I tried him" " there's this lad Hojlund who's grossly over priced. Want him? "Sure why not but I'll want a Dutch player the year after to replace him. Preferably someone who can't hit the target." It's 3 years and all they do is sit deep and let sides shoot as they see totally unphased by players being in the zone of danger and never close down well. Then they break and all run forward leaving slow defenders one on one and wonder why they concede. At times we gave klopp stick for being one trick and not changing. Despite the utter love it was possible to say if klopps plan a works great but if not there is no plan b But at least plan a did work
ETH is just waiting for his payout. You can't undermine a manager by seeking his replacement publicly and then expect it to be just water under the bridge when they change their mind because they couldn't find a better option. Saying crazy things may just die the process up. Think we all know he's not getting another top level job anyway.
amie Carragher says Liverpool may want Arne Slot to 'put a lid on it' after Man Utd admission Arne Slot went into detail about how he tactically got the better of Erik ten Hag during Liverpool's win over Manchester United on Sunday Jamie Carragher says Liverpool may want Arne Slot to 'put a lid on it' after Man Utd admission - Liverpool.com
My initial reaction was something similar and then I read a piece saying that you didn't need to even be an analyst to work out the tactics. The only people who couldn't work it out were the man utd coaches.
Klopp did similar when he first arrived; he went on Monday Night Football and explained how his pressing approach worked
I remember. The counter argument to managers spilling their guts is that without saying anything later on, teams 'worked out how to play us'. It will be interesting to see how Slot plays against a 'parked bus'.
I'm interested in how we cope when a manager inevitably instructs their number 10 to go on a man marking mission against Gravenberch
Could a ruse of course; make out that's what we did and hope other teams think we've given something away. #unlikely
You can already see that. Ball deep in our half. Back 3 with alisson ans cbs. Ball.middle of our half. Back 3 with robbo Ball in opponents half (like ispwich) cbs high up pinning teams.in bit still seeing centre 2 We will still pass pass pass trying to create an overload.
