Maybe try the 3.5mins on sky app then cos I was just luxuriating in the win and saw a very clear ball win.
ARNE Slot is only the third manager in the Premier league history to win his first three games without conceding, following Jose Mourinho in 2004 and Sve-Goran Eriksson in 2007.
Watched it already, it's Casemiro that's moved the ball, not Diaz. As I said, not bothered, if anything it makes it better / funnier. Just surprised pundits and, particularly, Man Utd fans aren't making more of it.
For the first time in a long time I wasn't worried about this game. I had no expectations at all just interested to see how the new style would work against our first tricky fixture. It was almost a complete display of how to dismantle the opposition. They offered nothing. Gravenberch was superb, who knew he had it in him. Great goals again. Salah playing out of his skin. This is our strongest starting 11 and it makes me wonder what the transition will be like when Nunez, Jones and Elliott, for example, start a game. More boring to watch maybe but it's bringing results.
If Szobbo plays, they all play - that's my summary. When he's on it, covering every blade of grass on the pitch, we've had nothing like this since a young Gerrard, and that releases Gravernberch and Macca to do their stuff. No way is Gravernberch (or Macca) a no6, but playing 4-2-3-1 doesn't need a dedicated No 6. I like the way Arne is being fluid with formations, and the passing is far, far better than it has been for a few years. As said, this is allowing Gravenberch to do what he does best - burst forward into spaces with slick passing and head-up vision. That's his forte, not covering his CBs and fullbacks.
I always had the next thread up straight after the final whistle, you just can't get a #matchthreadgenius genius these days
Possession based tactics are always more boring in my view. I don't get a buzz watching 3 players doing rondos. That's just me though. Not complaining at all about the effectiveness.
gravenberch fan here. I said he looked very classy all last season. The nice tight triangle of gravenberch macca together with szobo high worked well It is in the 3nd a scenario where nobody so far has got a run at a cb on his own. There's 2 cbs and 2 cms behind thr ball at all times. It only takes a very short time for us to sprite back so if you can hold up a player and just not let them past then it's very hard for teams to score without doing something brilliant Contrast this to the salah goal. He did nothing special. Just was in position. We won it and it's instantly 5 v 3. Just by default..this is a classic case of creating a massive overload situation by winning the ball back. Gengenpressing 101 Slot has fixed the balance just by tweaking sort of like how tuchel could fix Chelsea and end up winning a CL Tuchel had more to do by changing formstion and bringing rudiger back in. Slot has really just applied a balanced approach to deliver 3 duck eggs on the goals against column so far. Anyway Gravenberch is doing OK because macca is there too. But he is doing brilliantly as he is making interception like a champ and playing on the half turn and gliding when running with the ball
Did you also like how when macca was off getting his testicle shoved back down this throat (no card for that tackle either) szobo dropped to 6 and stood in until macca came back on. (After what felt like 60 seconds not 30.) Also the mancs got Anthony Taylor as the ref and still couldn't do better than a walkover scoreline. Imagine what would happen if they didn't get the backhander in.
This is it. He hasn't ripped up the plan and started from scratch but made important and effective tweaks.
It's emphasis It's discipline (anyone notice trent failed to run back once and got reamed for it) It's balance and structure within a similar philosophy. Comparing the last iteration of klopp to this it is a bit different. Klopp ha his cbs miles apart and a 6 inbetween or two 6s using one fullback as 6 Now we have a back 3 with the keeper between the cbs but quite a narrow set of fullbacks is 3 - 4 with the three at the back looking at 4 to.pass to We have this alternate where the keeper is deeper and the cbs are narrower either robbo beside when the line is higher up I find this quite interesting as if we ever lose the ball the cbs are close together to cover each other. The biggest single risk we take is playing deep to draw teams on when alisson has the ball. He's got his two cbs wider to pass to and two cms to pay thr ball forward to and then two full backs wide to ping to Then if say konate gets the ball then he's got alisson back, the cm in the middle.and should always have either the full back or winger wide. Options options options. Control is all about options to pass to so you are not hoofing the thing away as you've.been closed down Then as we advance you see macca.and gravenberch largely in a line. They are not "getting ahead of the ball" which was a massive bug bear of mine with klopp. As they are with the ball they are dictating play and always available to be options to the attackers to keep play going. Then go top and we are seeing a very clear 4 up closing down and closing the passing lanes. It's not a hell for leather press it's a very controlled move to close the lanes sort of press thst tactical.and really focuses on the bad pass or the player who runs out of options With klopp we used to press with 3. Then we had this right side advanced system.where hederson and trent were high pressing and windy and mane were deeper. Then we kind of half stopped pressing and fell away and then we came.back with trying to get a cm.or two up but it wasn't quite the same. Klopps was go all in push hard and press to.win it and we'd leave half the park empty to hold a team in Slot is saying OK, pass through. You wont find too many lanes but you won't draw my guys to create the gap either. Often they.leave it with the team until thst team.males a bad pass and then has fewer options and has to lose it or we make.an interception in the lane
