We are used to our management making all the politically correct noises about the League Cup like "we are out to win everything", "we take this competition very seriously", etc. etc,. then fielding a weakened side which usually goes down to defeat by a lower tier club. Either because he is a straight guy, or because his English is not up to devious evasions, Bob Peeters has been a bit franker. "We now have the Capital One Cup on Tuesday where we might rest some people because we have two games coming up against Wigan and Derby which are more important.” I don't think anyone needs "resting" at this stage of the season. They all need games after our feeble pre-season. But I can see he will want to protect the Crown Jewel (at present we only have one) and those vulnerable to injury. So: --- Gomez or Wilson in for Solly. Although Gomez' future lies at CB, I would actually like to see him used as cover for Solly at RB this season, enabling Wilson to remain at RM. --- Fox in for Wiggins --- Morrissey in for the geriatric Ben Haim, who might come on as sub to give Bikey a rest. --- Cousins at DM for the gimp Jackson (hopefully permanently) --- Moussa, if fit enough to start, in for either Buyens or Harriott depending what Gudmundsson does. --- Church or Pigott in for Vetokele. Maybe both to start if in the shop window for transfers or loans. --- Not sure about the 'keeper. Normally I would play a new keeper to give him more chance to play with his back four, but as I am suggesting changing the back four, not much validity in that argument, so maybe Pope.
I look forward to seeing Morrissey making his debut. He'll slot hand in glove into our back line. Sorry. Apart from that I agree with your changes. I would definitely like to see Pope in goal.
As a Morrissey acolyte I could do these all night, but I wouldn't want to upset Eddie. After all, he is a charming man.
I won't Ask and I certainly won't Panic. But you're still the one for me, fatty. Anyway, I can't make it on Tuesday. I'm watching Speedway.
...........Pope Wilson.....Gomez....Morrow.....Fox Sho-Silva....Cousins....Buyens...Moussa .....Pigott....Church..
Has Sho-Silva played in midfield before, AH? How is he progressing? A few years back he seemed to score in every game, but since stepping up an age group he doesn't seem to be as prolific.
In Champ manager he will be described as AMR/Striker.... at U18 level he and Azeez would take turns to play wide right in an attacking 3 with the Pig in the centre. We need to give the Dev Squad game time in competitions like CO Cup
I see what you are all doing now. I have just noticed I wrote "Morrissey" instead of "Morrison" and you are all making fun of me. Apparently Morrissey is a popular rap star like Justin Bieber and you are quoting the names of his ballads (or "smash hits" to use the current Tin Pan Alley parlance). I withdraw my comment about Capt Blackaddick being a gentleman.
Well I Wonder if eddie had a particularly unhappy birthday to react like that. Stop me if you think you've heard this one before, but it seems that some girls are bigger than others.
As Emlyn Hughes said to his manager, 'Frankly, Mr Shankly, I think we should be looking to win the League Cup this year.' And Mr Shankly replied, 'Who do you think you are, the last of the international playboys?'
I must admit, eddie, we've never had no one ever quite as ignorant as you about Morrissey. But you've got everything now to discover him and The Smiths.
I have had the good fortune to see God - I mean Morrissey - in concert several times and I also treasure a cuff from his shirt worn at Ally Pally about five years ago, and it always comes as a great surprise to meet or learn of anyone who is ignorant to the genius of the great man. It is never too late to become an acolyte, though. I suggest The Queen Is Dead and Vauxhall and I to start a collection.
I must confess I'm not so much a fan of his solo career as I am of The Smiths. I also disagree with a lot of his views. But he writes lyrics no-one else would even dream of, and he has a knack for describing emotions so accurately it can hurt even if I haven't experienced the emotion myself. He is unique.
