Important game today as the chasing pack closed the gap even further last Monday, although Southend's surprise 3-1 win over Burton stopped the top side running away with the league, the Essex side had closed the 7th place gap down to the shortest narrow margin i've seen in a while to eight points.

However, Southend's good fortune was not to last long when last night (Friday 26th Feb), they lost away to Port Vale and threw us a one match advantage into the bargain. That loss, turned the earlier Burton result into our gain.

What with Burton at home to Walsall today, the opposition games can only deliver further to our advantage and with just 14 games to go, 13 in Southend's case :) ...

We can do this and another 3 points today at home, would start making a play-off place at least a real possibility.

    Come on you Gills!

unfortunately Gills lost but luckily other results were not too bad
Gills should have got at least a draw if Donnelly did not header over when he should have scored. Hope Dack injury not to serious but could be out for some weeks. Positive was Williams who looked really good going forward and will replace Dack whilst he is not playing.

Two losses on the bounce and an away trip to Fleetwood who won at Coventry today......doesn't get any easier. A good time to complete the 'double' and get back to winning ways. Any update on Bradley Dack???

gioblues, exactly as i was thinking having returned slightly frozen from sitting through 90 minutes of that, in that other results certainly went our way today. I maybe will try and write some sort of report later for the site, but not sure it's really worth the effort.

WINDYROG - Not read any reports or other sites, But i'm not really sure why Dack went off, I missed whatever happened, he sat up and seemed ok before going off, maybe they were just protecting him, really hope it's nothing more than that.

    Quick Report
Gills missed 2 early chances then Chesterfield scored twice Novak goal cracker.
Second half Gills much better with Samuel header brilliantly saved.Williams running things from midfield then Goal after good work from Norris found Osdebe to header in. Then Donnelly missing sitter when heading over the bar from 6 yards. Deserved a draw after second half effort.

Noted.....but deserving points does not give us points. Harsh maybe but I believe fair.
