I know its been mentioned elsewhere but maybe deserves its own thread. But feel free to merge with the other if you wish And from the Post.... Rovers long-running hopes of building a stadium on land owned by the University of West England is believed to have finally moved a step closer. Directors Michael Cunnah and Lee Atkins were scheduled to meet with UWE officials on Thursday and an announcement to confirm a favourable agreement has been reached between both parties is imminent. Speaking on Thursday evening, Rovers chairman Steve Hamer would only say: "There is an important meeting taking place. We are optimistic that there will be a favourable outcome. We are hopeful that an announcement will be made on Friday or early next week. I don't want to pre-empt anything but it is all systems go as we speak." http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristo...tory-29384818-detail/story.html#ixzz4BCajv6sE
Well hopefully now some fans on GasChat will now be quite about our new owners not doing anything since they've been here
Just looked on the Rovers news and the good news that Steve Hamer said would be announced today is that NO agreement has been reached, I don't want to hear it when he announces bad news
I can imagine how Steve Hamer feels if he is dealing with a large round the table committee. Having sat on Senate Committees for many years, I know how difficult it can be to get a decision. All parties are playing politics. How will the decision affect them personally and departmentally and how will their decision be perceived by colleagues of their own Department? Often better to play safe and put everything off until the big players opt for a decision and then ride on the back of that decision. Committees usually finish up making compromises which are not often the right ones!
And that, in a nutshell is probably one of this countries biggest failings and most likely the reason why we lag behind many other nations when it comes to infrasructure and generally making things better for it's population, nobody ever seems to have the balls to take a decision on the chin.
