That was a very poor effort by Utd, and one hopes Chelsea were watching closely and don't make the same mistakes against Galatasary. Firstly, don't underestimate the opposition. Olympiakis are not streets ahead in their home league because they're a poor team. Secondly, decide what what result you want and choose a team accordingly. Utd played as if they wanted a draw , but chose a team more suited to try and win. In the end they didn't do either very well. They were over run in midfield, out played, out thought and outclassed. Sure we will have done our homework far better, realise the threat of Sjneider and plan accordingly. The hostility of the Turkish crowds can sway the decisions of the officials, so we need patience and discipline. Expect a tough game, but will be surprised if we don't get a narrow win.
I would hope so, Jose has forgotten more about tactics than Moyes will ever know. I am expecting a draw tonight to be honest, preferably a high score draw like 2-2, so we have a couple away goals to take back to the Bridge. Gala are a decent side, would be very happy with a win here.
I'd take any result other than a defeat as we should win at S.B. fancy A 1-1 myself. As for United, I knew they'd struggle as soon as I saw the line up. Cleverley, Young, Valencia and Carrick as a midfield 4 in Europe is Mike Bassett management, naïve at best, incompetent at worst.
Did Moyes have much choice in who he selected though Fellaini in for Cleverley and maybe Kagawa for Young or Valencia is the only changes I would have made. If fit, Jones, Evans, Fletcher and Januzaj would surely have played.
I can see what you're saying but he went for what a 4411 with lazy Young, immobile Carrick and toss Cleverley forming a midfield 4 that was already outnumbered by Olmpiacos' 5 man midfield. No surprises at all that they got over run. How are Cleverley and Young even getting games? They are awful.
It's so funny how bad their squad is. Even more hilarious that people like UIR think their squad is marginally worse than ours/city's.
