Maybe im feeling a bit cynical this morning. Maybe i could be on to something.

Two transfers i dont think will happen this summer which have been much talked about over the last week.

    1. Dempsey to Liverpool - in terms of marketing this deal would have made sense about a month ago so he was touring with us. i think the reason he is constantly mentioned with us at the moment, (and specifically by us - but Fulham dont know what we are talking about.) is to give maximum media attention to the tour. A team is touring a country, what better way to give the tour attention than link the national captain with the touring team.... I believe if it was really going to happen it would have been a month or so a go or at least around the time of Borinis transfer.

    2. Van persie to man Utd...fergie must be bricking it at the thought of Robin going to the city. So he has stuck his oar in and Man utds involvment at the very least will probably cause city to have to fork out more than they previously would have. W've seen it from Fergie before. Just Fergie showing again that he can have an influence and that he carries more clout than Bella Embergs G-strap.

Two very talked about transfers, but I would bet my lucky pants that neither will happen

Man U need Van Persie, IMO. If Man City get RVP, it'd be a big blow to the devil's title aspirations this year. I still think it'll be the two Manchester clubs (well one Manchester club and one Salford club) battling for the title this season. Man U with RVP would be significantly better than without; but, then again, most teams would be better with the addition of RVP, as he's in the form of his life.

You make a good point about Dempsey. It'll be interesting to see if your hypothesis holds any water. <ok>

Is this water wet? If not then it may lack substance!

It'd have to be wet, wouldn't it? Otherwise... it'd be ice? Two wrongs in the hand don't always make a mixed metaphor, you know. ;)

I deffinately think that Man Utd would improve with Van persie, but given his age i dont think he is a Man Utd signing.....They, like us, prefer to buy young as makes good business sense...

Trying to make sense of the title of this thread made my head hurt.

But your point on Dempsey has definitely intrigued me. I can definitely see the logic behind it. Maybe the website 'blunder' wasn't a blunder after all? Just an attempt to create controversy and media speculation?

its interesting that we (LFC) dont speak about transfers. But then we speak about being linked with the US Captain on the day our US tour starts. Very clever marketing and I for one encourage it.

I am of course running the risk of looking like a complete plank when we sign Dempsey Next week...lol

Normally I'm not one for conspiracy theories but I really do think you're on to something. Didn't we hire an American journalist to help with marketing? Can't think of his name at the moment but I just think it doesn't seem like a particularly hard transfer to sort out. He has one year left on his contract, a reasonable transfer price, and he wants to sign. I think we'll drag it out throughout the tour and then 'miss out' on him.

    Billy Hogan.

I see this as some thing we would do.

I'm pretty sure that our owners never wanted Martinez as manager and just used him to distract the press. Take the obviously posed photo in Miami for example.

  14. RVP joining Man Utd would obviously make a difference because he is a better striker than Welbeck and Hernandez. However, I don't see how RVP joining Man City would make that much a difference. They have Aguero, Tevez, Balotelli and Dzeko, maybe one or two of them (Tevez and Dzeko) will leave but would RVP really improve a lot on Aguero and Balotelli? Obviously it would strengthen their squad but, since you can only play eleven at once, we are talking about first eleven's here!

I guess what I am saying is, RVP would be a much bigger signing for Man Utd than Man City...<ok>

interesting thought.... i think you might be right... RVP would be very very cheeky to go to utd.

I think we've cocked up the dempsey thing due to some over eager american releasing a prepared statement early. fulham might rack up the price thinking we are in a corner. who knows. in the end he is 12 months from his end of contract so if he hands in a transfer request i think we'll get him. the question is the fee just like adam.

  16. I'd be inclined to agree about Dempsey but I reckon he'll still join eventually. I hope not but that is nothing against the player, fee, etc, it is purely because I'd prefer to see a younger model or, if it has to be an experienced player, someone that has shown he can bag fifteen plus goals over two, three or four seasons, not just one <ok>

To add fuel to your RVP idea.

'Charlie Adam, his corners are worth £10million alone'.

He knew exactly what he was doing.
