Think that Germany will win by one. Hopefully Portugal and Ghana get a draw and make the Germany US game irrelevant.

The Yanks are a scrappy bunch. Everyone seems to underestimate them because they lack a big-time striker. I think it will be a 1-1 draw.

I'm amazed the game is going on looking the weather in Recife earlier.

The city was under a couple feet of water a few hours ago.

Just hoping for a good game really, my main hopes being that Portugal are knocked out.

Assuming the Germans beat you, Ellewoods, how many goals do Portugal & Ghana need to get 2nd place?

This will be a challenge too far for the plucky Americans. Germany are too incisive going forward.

My guess is that Germany will not try to press the score line to high. There is just no need for it from their point of view and with the number of Germans on the US squad I dont think they will try to blow us out of the water.

Portugal will need a five-goal swing. A two-goal swing MIGHT be good enough for Ghana, depending on how many goals there are in each match, but to be sure they need a three-goal swing.

What Tuckin said. Important that we remember that 2 of Ghana's best players have been sent home. Makes a Portugal victory more likely. Portugal needs a larger goal swing than Ghana so thats real good for the US.

As long as that smug twat Ronaldo goes out, I'll be happy.

I don't see Portugal recovering a 5 goal swing. I don't see Germany, who are pretty much through, really going all out for 3 or 4 goals either.

Muntari was already suspended, of course. And Boateng was taken off just after h-t against Germany - whereupon Ghana starting playing brilliantly without him.

Against the US though they played better when Boateng came on. They almost always look better to me when he plays.

Agreed. He's much more of a finished article than, say, Jordan Ayew.

Ghana knocked us out of the world cup the last 2 times. I would not hold it past Ghana to beat Portugal by a bunch and knock us out again.

#USMNT lineup: Howard; Johnson, Gonzalez, Besler, Beasley; Beckerman, Jones; Zusi, Bradley, Davis; Dempsey (c)

This is a better lineup today in my opinion with Gonzalez coming in. Gonzalez from LA is a far better defender then that dude Cameron who plays for Stoke.

    I
    I believe
    I believe that we
I believe that we will win
I believe that we will win (repeat an obnoxious number of times)
