Sitting in the office at the moment and there's me (the only SAFC fan) a Man Utd fan (who hates Newcastle too) and 5 Mags.

All 5 of them going on saying "Hahaha We'll Hammer you in a fortnight" and not liking it when I say "Well it wouldn't surprise me"!!

We have to redress this balance - 3 points against them and the season kick starts - will give the CROWD renewed vigour!

Just wonder if they'll all phone in sick if Sunderland win!!

All I've been saying is "I really don't know what to expect - hope for a win obviously but you can never tell" yet they're all being cocky and predicting wins all the time! Hope it bites them in the arse!!

I miss the bi annual mackem cockiness about the derby, 9 times out of 10 it has hit them in the nuts! Attitudes seem very dulled down this year, probably due to both teams being an absolute crock of ****e this season!

You never know with derbies. Bet they didn't expect to win 5-1, but they're glad it happened. Same way I never "expect" to beat them, but I'm bloody glad when we do. We could win 10-0, but we're all back at work on Monday...

We will win just gotta have a bit of faith. But then again i said that last season. A defeat and i fear the crowd may turn and things may start to get ugly for us.

First game at Arsenal - they probably gave us too much respect even though we might have nicked it, they were still the better team. First half against Swansea, we played some super-neat footy -only to be outplayed by 10 men, second half. Since then we've gone from poor -to dire -to downright on embarrassing ...there's no feelgood right now in my opinion

Glass half empty is too far the wrong way IMHO. We've only played 6 out of 38. Always easy when you make a good start, but there's 32 to play plus both cups :)

All the mags I've spoken to a bricking it. I think its got draw written all over it. I just hope Mon can squeeze that little extra out of them. An early goal and anything could happen

Not looking forward too it. Too effing stressful. Im never cocky about a derby as top tier toon states, you just leave yourself open for ridicule and I tend to respond to ridicule with a swift punch.

I think it will be as simple as first team to score will win, due to the scoring team gaining so much confidence. An early go for either team could lead to a convicing win IMO, I just don't see this being a close game purely for this reason.

An early goal would certainly liven things up.

As would an early yellow card!! But Cattermole isn't playing and Tioyte has to commit 6 fouls to get a yellow against us
