Can you imagine if everyone in the UK had a gun? We'd be taking people out for failing to indicate on roundabouts. I'm in favour.

If we all had guns here would folks go round killing everyone?? I just couldn't see us Brits ever being like that..

It's an extreme measure, but you have to say that all these school killings are making a small dent in the American population - I think that's a difficult thing to attack.
One of the dead kids would probably have grown up to be a serial killer or a mass shooter themself so this has probably saved lives.
Do you seriously believe that the banning of guns in the USA only benefits lawbreakers and politicians? The estimate is that there are 270,000,000 guns in private hands, there are roughly 25,000 death per year in the US due to firearms.
Very sad state of affairs but they have a big school shoot shoot up every six months in the land of the free so this one was overdue.
Which makes getting rid of them virtually impossible, especially when they've got borders with two countries where guns are widely available. Whilst I'm glad that we have very strict gun laws in this country, I don't think that banning them is the answer in America. Canada has fairly widespread gun ownership (nearly 22% of households) and a large number of the Swiss population have to own a firearm. The Americans seem to own far more per person, though and have a rather unhealthy relationship with them. The problem seems to be something other than the ability to own a gun.
And no surprise that most gun shops can be found on the border with Mexico. Not content with shooting themselves, they're also arming the Mexican drug cartels. What they need in America is a ban on guns AND a change in the gung-ho, Rambo-style culture that's so pervasive.
The police tried to arrest the brother of the shooter, thinking that he'd done it. Poor bloke was at work and news report named him as the killer, which is when he found out that his mother was dead. Harsh.
