9.30 on the eve of the final major and no golf thread . My modest investments are Matt Kuchar @ 60/1 and Xander Schauffelle @ 100/1. The latter carried my dosh last month at Birkdale and finished in the top 20 without ever threatening the upper echelons of the leaderboard. I'm willing to give him another shot. Kooch has been in good form all year and filled the runner up berth at the Open. Mcilroy is favourite based on his past exploits at this track and a staying on finish last month. I'll happily let him win at 13/2 without carrying my cash. Good luck anyone having a golf punt.
Not much time to analyse. Course is a bombers course. Changes look septic. Soft fairways but fast greens. Justin Thomas 40/1 Tom Pieters 50/1 Brooks 22/1 DJ 14/1 Each way on top 2 named and win only on the two others. Have a good one lads, thanks Chaninbar. Edit: Emiliano Grillo 200/1 added to give me 5 bets.
Highly recommend follwing @NoLayingUP and @TweeterAliss for some more light hearted takes on the golf, with a sprinkle of serious analysis thrown in for good measure
This is the first time all season where I genuinely feel McIlroy has everything in his favour. And gosh he's swinging it so, so well. The Achilles heel is those 5 - 10ft putts which cost him badly at the Bridgestone on the Sunday but I really think he's at such an advantage on this track which he excels at, that even mediocre putting may very well suffice. He's my main bet at 7/1 and I'm really, really sweet on his chances here. He's a machine round here lads. Koepka 28/1 Backed the US Open champ a few days back, think he'll love the place. Pieters 50/1 My favourite young player on Tour, played really steady last weekend and as per my others a long driver possessed with a terrific short game. This guy will carry my dosh most majors in fact and he's definitely going to be winning one sooner rather than later. Hahn 200/1 Last man to win here, not playing the worst golf of his career at 200/1 what's not to like? All backed each way top 8 places, bar Koepka top 6 only for him.
Driving for show, putting for dough That's why I'm sticking with Jordan Spieth, who I had it right off in the Open on 11/1 is a great bet IMO No need to be backing anyone else
Disappointed to see only Coral doing top 10 this time. Only one bet so far and it's Matsuyama @ 11's, in pretty good form and will be surprised if he's not going close to his first major. Will pick a couple more tomorrow
A fair few changes have been made to this course BOS. The bentgrass has been replaced by champion ultradwarf Bermuda and the greens are said to be as pure as anything around. When McIlroy won here previously, they were splotchy and not running well at all. They've cut down thousands of trees to reshape the course and have more or less created 4 new holes (met with some harsh criticism from what I gather so far)...see what the pros think tomorrow night but it won't be the same course they are familiar with from years gone by. The grass on the greens are supposed to be awesome btw. Soft conditions too...target golf = very low scores going to be there for the taking.
This is simply not a Jordan Spieth course. Stranger things have happened though. No need to reply. Just write a big boom up with this comment quoted Sunday if he wins. I'll gladly "like" it.
A day late with the posting but here are my darts for the golf... Matt Kuchar @ 60/1 - Stuck with Koochy Koo nearly all year so far... Kevin Kisner @ 66/1 - Kisner if the other one ive done all year with Kooch, let's hope he keeps it going... Ryan Moore @ 100/1 - Used to back him a lot a few years back and have returned to him for this season... Brain Harman @ 125/1 - Playing really well this year and I think he's got a biggy in him somewhere, even if it's to place... I'm just pi$$ed off that Sky aren't showing it really, something to do with they couldn't agree terms with the host broadcasters... Well, I could say the same for the amount they charge me on a monthly basis but that dosnt stop em putting it up all the time...!! Good luck to all...
My bets are long gone so to have some interest in the closing stages i've had a go on Grayson Murray at 50/1 ew 3 places
