Anybody up for a sweepstake on the US elections

I was thinking about the following.

Presidential election 50 points for the correct winner then minus one point for each electoral college vote you are out in your forecast. So if you think Trump will win with 290 electoral collage votes and he wins with 320 you will get 50-30 points for a total of 20, if on the other hand Biden wins with 290 electoral college votes you get 0-40 for a total of -40.

For those who don’t follow the details of US elections each state is worth a certain number of votes in the electoral collage, basically the bigger the state the more electoral college votes it is worth, you need 270 to get a majority.

For the Senate, Only one third of the seats are up for election every two years, giving them a six year term of office. There are two Senators per state giving a total of 100, so you need 51 seats to win the Senate, if it is tied 50/50 then the Vice President has the casting vote. The current Senate is 53 Republicans and 47 Democrats so a close call. This time say which party will have the majority for 50 points and how many seats they will get. A tie also counts as a correct answer. Because there are not that many seats up for election you lose 10 points for each seat you are out. For the example if you think the Democratesvare going to win 52 seats And the Republicans win with 51 you get no pints for the winner but lose 40 as you were four seats out but if the Democrats win 53 seats you have 60 points. If you go for a tie you get a straight 50 points.

For the House there are a lot more seats and these are similar to our general elections with one Representatives per district as they are called. The current House is split. Democrats 233 seats, Republicans 201 and one Libertarian , so you need 218 seats for a majority. Points as before 50 for getting the winning party and as with the presidential election minus one for each seat you are out.

Just a bit of fun, not asking who you want to win but what you think will happen.

I will set up a spreadsheet and give a winner in each category and and overall winner across all three for those who want to have a stab at all three races.

I know that might sound complex but simply all you need to say is who will be president and how many electoral collage votes they will get and which party will control the Senate and the House and how many seats they will win. I will do the rest.

Please. pleased for the sake of the planet let it be Biden.. Trump is an utter lunatic who will surely end up in prison if/when he loses his presidential protections.

I know what you mean but for ****s sake how was Biden the best they could come up with. He's like someone's sweet but forgetful grandad not somebody who should be ruling a country. If I was a staunchly anti Trump American I'd struggle to genuinely support Biden for the top job.

At least he has common sense views on issues such as climate change and coronavirus.. Trump is actively encouraging the spread of the virus and the increased production of fossil fuels at the expense of renewable energy.

    Nice and simple rules ( :emoticon-0126-nerd: )

So Biden to win by 50 electoral votes

Dems to have 53 seats in the senate, will increase their majority in the house as well.

Absolutely yeah but surely they could have put someone younger and less fragile forward who holds those same views.

I get your point, but they did go through the due process for him to win the nomination.

I am dreading waking up on Wed to the news of another 4 years of hatred, racism, and pure selfish greed.
Even the dictators in China and Russia didn’t throw the old and frail to the dogs to protect their finances.
    Are Americans really that stupid?
    Yup.

Please god we need rid of this maniac. I’ve lived in NC for the past 23 years and the last 4 have been hell! If it wasn’t for my grown kids, and the fact that we really didn’t think it would have been as bad as it’s got, we would have left. He gets in again we will leave, it will only get worse.
Dreading the next few weeks no matter who wins! Most of his supporters are ok but the crazies will not bow out gracefully.

Yet again the polls are massively out and have underrated the right wing support. Trump is going to win this.

When I saw the title I thought it was a sweep on how long the incumbent would last before passing away ...
