Hodgson claims Liverpool striker still has much to do to be considered a world great - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ress-insists-England-manager-Roy-Hodgson.html I agree with him, Suarez has to show that last season wasn't a one-off, if he wants to be world-class, he has to do it on a consistent basis.
If he gets the golden boot again next year will that be enough for you and woy? I doubt it haha it'll be "he needs to do it next year" and on and on we go lol Anyhoo what would a utd/chavski fan know about world class strikers? You think wooney is world class lol
... but Januzaj is already of course? ... ... all subjective bollox plus a little dash of mind games from Roy here math ... Roy will welcome any opportunity to try and disrupt the Uruguayan preparation and, particularly, anything that might effect Suarez in the run up to the game ... ... for me it's an easy conjecture ... would Suarez get into a squad of the best players in the world right now? ... without any doubt ... would Rooney? absolutely not (he might have about 8 years ago) ... but Suarez is up there with the likes of Messi and Ronaldo in terms of the best current goal scoring forwards, make no mistake ...
But it wasn't a one off - he baecame the first foward to score 20+ goals 2 seasons in a row for Liverpool (since Fowler I think). And we've had some good strikers since then - Torres, Owen to name a couple. Matth you clerly don't understand mind games in football. Woy is obviously trying to get to Suarez before our game - all it proves to me is Woy is **** at mind games and should stick to mumbling infront of camera's, about absolute nonsense.
Suarez has scored 7 goals in 25 v Big 4 clubs. His temperament is suspect in big games, like Gerrard. How many CL goals has he scored?
How is that relevant ... so if he scores 9 goals in the group stages of the CL against the likes of Fenerbache and Shaktar Donetsk that would give him some kudos in this debate? ... how many Champions League goals did Jimmy Greaves get? ... It is unfortunate that domestic rivalry clearly clouds judgement in these debates ... as a Leicester City fan I can only look on with some envy at the 'stars' of the bigger (richer) clubs in the Premier League .. Suarez is right up there with the very best ... four years ago the guy was an instrumental part of a fine Uruguay team that did wonderfully well on this 'world stage' ... in the interim he has got better and better ... if he was fully fit he would still be incredibly dangerous to England's prospects on Thursday especially against our distinctly average defence ... even though this Uruguay side is now obviously past it's sell by date ...
This is important for me and where he needs to improve to truly dine at the top table. The top players score the important goals in the big games. Players like Van Persie, Van Nistelroy, Henry, Drogba, Cantona, all did it when it matters most. Has the ability to do it, and his level has gone up massively in the last two years so he probably will. Liverpool improving rapidly too, so this won't do any harm to helping him progress.
What's the record in the last 25 games for strikers playing for the clubs mentioned against each other?
I couldn't believe some people actually thought he was better than Drogba when we did that poll on our board.
He was a decent PL striker. Many many players better than him. we had Andrew Cole and he was sensational compared to Fowler. Nobody considers him top class though.
Unsure. But Drog, RVP, Rooney all scored big Premiership and CL goals in big games. Suarez has not played CL but I am sure he will succeed when he does. He is at a big disadvantage at a club like Liverpool, tbf. Steve G: 1 goal in 37 games v Chelsea.
