Two broken ribs and a punctured lung. Ouch.

    Out for around six weeks.

Poor lad...the punctured lung could have been very dangerous and painful. He is in for a lot of discomfort whilst he recovers. Broken arm would have been easier...can't really immobolise ribs.

Two broken ribs and a pneumothorax, I had the same injury when hit by that vintage aeroplane in Germany! I can assure you that it does hurt, but I was luckily a quick healer and it had healed in about four or five weeks, the knee that I also injured still gives me problems! No football for me these days.

Well, I hope that the Palace fans who booed him off the pitch feel suitably embarrassed.

They booed him when he came on as well. Does anyone know why?

We need to sign a striker. I know its shortsighted but the next 6 weeks could dictate our future and stratus for the next few years, by the time he's back, that chance could be gone if we don't act swiftly

Same reason we used to boo him for when he was playing for the opposition, he has the ability to annoy in bucketloads.

I got a similar injury playing eggball at school. I was pretty tender for 5 or 6 weeks and compounded the misery by getting a cough shortly after the injury

Many years ago I cracked a rib playing 5 a side and had to avoid driving through Portsmouth for about 3 weeks.

Poor Shane. He works tirelessly and I guess injuries like this are the risk you take with his style of play- fast, tenacious harassment of defenders. I worry his fitness will drop off as he has to rest completely.
