I am sure like me you are all still struggling to come to terms with one of the saddest days in the history of Bristol Rovers Football Club and on behalf of the Board of Directors I would like to sincerely apologise for the position we find ourselves in. We are well aware that radical changes need to be made in the best interests of this football club, and we have already begun the process of reviewing all areas of operations, from top to bottom. I have had numerous discussions with Darrell and the Board since the final whistle on Saturday, and today marks the start of a series of meetings to take the club forward. We have to try and keep emotions out of any decisions we make, but of course that will be difficult, as we are hurting as much as you are right now. Although it is important not to make any knee jerk decisions, we have to act quickly to make sure we can start turning things round as quickly as possible. We know that mistakes have been made at all levels, and we must learn from these going forward. There are critical decisions that need to be made in the best interests of the club, and we will have to look at the financial implications of relegation as the Football League contribution will be cut. We will have to review the playing budget and all other costs associated with running the club, but we will be keeping a full time playing and back room set up, and we will still have one of the best budgets in the Conference. Darrell is determined to bounce back and has some very strong ideas and experience at this level. We have hit rock bottom, but I can assure you we will fight back. Bristol Rovers is a club with a proud history, and we must make every effort to restore that pride. We must work hard over the coming weeks to make sure we are able to hit the ground running and do our best to bounce back at the earliest opportunity. We will be making a number of announcements over the next few weeks, so I would ask you to bear with us at this very difficult time. I know you all want answers and actions, and I can assure you that we will be trying our best to get things back on track. We thank you for your fantastic support and we hope to be able to reward you next season. Read more at http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news...the-chairman-1539293.aspx#lAxSAvKu1zmLdeh9.99
" we will have one of the best budgets in the conference" Really!! we should have the best by a mile.. otherwise we are not going to get out the Conference, simple as that.. Im already dreading what higgs & co are thinking up next!
FGR have a massive budget. They're owned by Dale Vince who's worth more than £100million and is not afraid to splash the cash, they've got Lee Hughes FFS and he must be on a few quid. It's gonna be tough, big budget or not.
Go on write a statement along the lines of that sort of thing, in no less than hundred non swearing word's, but you can swear upto 250 times. I would think it would be comedy gold in Gas talk
If Higgs and co see this, they WILL press legal action, as has been done before. Whoever has opened that account had better be careful right about now
Higgs and especially dunford get all pissy about this sort of thing. May be worth changing your facial features ..... you ugly ****
You didn't say that when we went camping and erected the tent with our big poles. For the record I'm backing the board all the way. Once the new stadium is built they can **** off.
Firstly I am sorry that you have all suffered so much this season and I genuinely hope that it will not be too long before you climb back. Your chairman's words are predictable; full of rhetoric and bull**** with things like "I would like to apologise" which reads just like a standard business letter. As soon you appointed Ward last year, I had the feeling that he would leave you a lot worse off just he did with us in 1998. I know nothing about Darrell Clarke but feel that he has been well and truly dumped in the brown stuff by Higgs and Ward. So best wishes for the recovery although it will be far from easy; cold wet nights at Grimsby or Lincoln never are. And at home the minnows will all be treating you as their cup final in front of a decent crowd. Hope the bumpy ride gets smooth sooner rather than later.
What a thoroughly nice chap. Strangely I've been feeling a lot of love from many of our red cousins, one bloke at work actually seemed more upset than me and he's a ST holder at Trashton.
With you on that one. Mind you, I would love them all to **** off now, with the exception of Higgs of course..... then when the stadium is complete, he can **** off too
