    Hi all

I've been on a 72 hour non volunteered internet hiatus, please help me get up to date!
The reason to this is because I had managed to book our LEGOLAND family holiday this weekend, the opening weekend of the season <doh>
I've been relying on my friends updating me by text, line-up, running scores etc. It's ended up with me performing a personal experiment, as I've not read ONE single thing as of yet. Nothing on the net, no newspapers (how could I as being in Denmark the front pages yesterday was screaming towards me with pictures of Laudrup in front of the South Africa Road stand waving triumphantly towards the school end), no threads on here, not one single match report. I'll get to all of that later today, but first I wanted to try and get your thoughts on Saturdays slaughter without any outsiders views. Cause what you get when you don't have any internet is time to think, and god knows I've been wondering since Saturday!

The only thing I know from Saturday is our starting lineup, the final score and scorers. My answer to the lineup was "Wow! That's a very attacking lineup, but me like :) Just hope it doesn't backfire big time...", and when Swansea went 2-0 up "Ok, at least it's better than last year against Bolton". Jaysus! Sometimes I just need to keep my mouth shut :(

I will now get around to reading through the threads on here, starting with Col's match report (hope there is one). But it would be much appreciated if you would try and answer some of my questions below. Thanks in advance <ok>

1)What went wrong, were we really 0-5 shait?
2)Any good performances from our lads, how did the newbies do?
3)Did we play like strangers and just need more time to gel?
4)Tactics, how did MH do? Did we go gung-ho after going behind and therefor conceded a hatfull?
5)Where does this leave us? Have the whole perception on how we'll do this season changed after Saturday?
6)Will we do desperate deals in the transfer market because of this?
7)Did Swansea and Michu look as impressive as their result suggests?

Well thanks for nothing! <grr> ;)

    Only kidding :)
After reading Col's and Rollers match day experiences it all seems much clearer.

To me it sounds like the players started to believe their own hype and landed flat on their faces.

Hi mate, I would of thought you've read enough by now to answer your own questions. It was certainly a game to forget.

The factor that has been underplayed on most of the vitriolic comments on here was the weather. The hottest day of the year in the UK and certainly not one for playing football. Couple that with a disastrous bit of keeping to gift the best ball hogging outfit in the league the first goal and the die was pretty much cast. It would still have been different if Mackie had scored his sitter or if the stone-wall penalty shout had been given by a very poor referee but it wasn't to be. Swansea's 2nd was a cracker and good enough to win any game and after that there was no way back given the conditions. The defensive capitulation was still hard to stomach however.

We got Greened mate! Saw we had 7/1 in goal chances and ca 60/40% posession after 20 minutes, and the chance statistics must have been about 10/1 after 35 minutes. Then for me Green's nerves began to spread first through the defense, then 2nd half the whole team, and by the end of the game we were a total mess. Hoillett looked good and Adel lively first half, otherwise there wasn't too much to get excited over on the positive side.
