The French have passed a law that supermarkets are not allowed to scrap food ... They must donate it to a charity .

The French have done something useful for once .

Great idea! Everybody stops shopping in supermarkets and waits until all that delicious grub goes to the charity food banks!

There are methods of removing the old paint/varnish/woodstain, without resorting to hours of sandpapering. Get yer knickers off, take some photo's post em on here and you will be amazed the amount of help you will get. However i suggest you go to them acid vat dudes that will completely restore the wood to its original condition for about 15 quid. Trust me it's worth every penny.

I did it with a chair, french polished, upholstered the lot and beautiful it was too but still have 2 more to do(did first one about 2 years ago).I was having second thoughts about admitting it though, not sure if I'm a hipster or scumbag poor<laugh>

ps Abu Hamzas' advise is spot on,that's what I'll do with the other two.
