via NewsNow...http://blog.emiratesstadium.info/archives/23754? To be honest I am absolutely seething. I know we have a McCammon thread but my issue here is not about that debate but more so with comments made in the linked article. I would reply but I have no intention of wasting an email address or creating a temporary one for this author. Quote: But let us ponder for a moment. Let us suppose that the appeal fails â a legitimate supposition since at this moment the club has been found guilty of racism. What is the League and the FA going to do about this? Do they just say, âoh well, the civil regulator has taken care of that one, nothing for us to do,â and let the club continue in the League? Given the activities of the League and FA over John Terry, and other players, not to mention spectators who are involved in racist behaviour, it would be crazy â and a total slap in the face to Kick it Out â for the club to be allowed to continue playing in the League. End Quote I would suggest this individual remains reporting on the Premier League and getting their own house in order, before venturing on comments re a lower league club. As for a bit of research, maybe the author can invest 90p in obtaining a copy of last weeks Medway Messenger. Thoughts on the article (not McCammon) please or is this author just on a wind-up...
always nice to get slated by people who dont have all the facts. seems a certain kent news provider got stung by that as well!!
I havent really commented on the whole McCammon affair (best to stay out of it) as i am not aware of the facts, but i have been very surprised how some (including some Not 606 users) have jumped on the Gillingham are rascists bandwagon purely from very little info available to the public! I believe the Medway Messenger report makes different reading to the few facts that have been reported though i have not seen it, so i am of the view that i do not have the facts to make an opinion!
If anyone wants to see the paper they do have an online viewer. You just need to select Medway Messenger and from the branch of links that appear; the friday edition. It was an interesting read. http://kentonline.newspaperdirect.com/epaper/viewer.aspx
The reason I bought the paper in the end, because you could not get an online link (unless you signed up). I don't blame them though, they know they have a story to protect for revenue reasons which is what business is about, we all accept to freely the free stuff we do get on the internet in comparison to actually going out and paying for the publications.
I'm not signed up but could read it. When I tried to click the friday edition it did nothing, however if you click the plus sign next to it it'll open up a branch of links. If you click the friday edition there it opens. Or at least it did for me.
Good find brb. Has anybody else read the comments, a Gills fan has provided text on the tribunial findings, source unstated so i am not sure how legit it is but the crux of the matter seems to be the lack of investigation in to the claims made by McCammon rather than the club actually being overtly racist... a point which the author clearly misses
This is an absolute disgrace, i've had to write a reply to the idiot. He has half the facts and even less knowledge on the player and the time he was here, yet he deems himself informed enough to suggest that we should be docked points or thrown out the league, what an absolute ****. People like him will give our club a bad name, all beacue of McCammon who is one of the worst players I have seen in a Gills shirt in the 20 years I have been watching them.
Wow - the power of social media, when I first saw the article via NewsNow it had one comment, now it has opened up a whole flurry of (17) responses. Although I will make it clear, I am not suggesting in the slightest any connection due to not606. I have had a brief read and the text supplied appears to have been taken from the Kent Messenger publication.
gooner as I said social media. It appears that this article is certainly doing the rounds on most Gills sites. I think it is a bit uncalled for though, an Arsenal supporter pondering about our clubs place in the league. Also I feel it is a shame the author, premier league club supporter, when writing about a lower league club did not indulge in a bit more research, before forming such an opinion of dramatic supposed consequences for our club.
I have read about this player suing Gillingham for unfair dismissal but as i'm not a Gillingham fan i know nothing about the ins & outs of the case and as such can offer no comment to the rights and wrongs
