You sometime receive calls that can damage your health: just received one about my unclaimed "Payment Protection Insurance", I do not have any unclaimed PPI. Sometime they tell you about accident you had recently, list are endless. Your own experience, please share.
I give them 5 seconds and say "sorry mate I have stuff to deal with right now" thanks bye bye/ You do NOT let them get their foot in the proverbial door by allowing them to ask a question.
I just shout "**** off you swindling bastard" down the phone at ones that are live calls and put the phone down, the computerised ones I just simply hang up, read of people hitting a number key on their phone as requested out of curiosity and getting hit with a massive phone bill for doing so.
"Hello is that Mr Smith" "No mate, but I'll go and get him for you" Chuck phone on top and wander off
That's what I thought, turns out I did and I then received a refund. Best to call your bank about it though and not some geezer on the phone.
All these companies handling refund of PPI especially, take a chunk out of the refund. My sister used them and they took more than 30% of the refund. They are ripoff. . PPI is the easiest to claim because banks are scared of bad publicity.
If it's to your moby or if you landline has caller display you can normally recognise these kind of numbers from the dialling code. Had been getting tonnes of calls from the same number on my moby, several a day at one point, so saved it as a contact under '****s' then applied the block function. Problem solved.
When I used to work in BT exchanges there would be a land line connected in the exchange that the engineers used. Sometimes we would be there when they went home and the phone would ring so I used to answer it and it would be these PPI companies! Talk about plucking numbers out of the phone book! C#%ts! I bought a CPR call blocker from Amazon for the home phone and blocked all 0843 & 0845 numbers. Excellent bit of kit.
they should be banned IMO. there should be a system for complaining about their activity and getting them shut off. But yes. we should be able to deliberately block at source. our mobile carriers should have a locc this type function adn if they move to another prefix they should be outright banned on one complaint. Landlines should also be blocked I think myself you do not need to be poilite. If you pick up and its a survey don't even answer just hang up. they are big and ugly enough to know what they are at and get hung up on 1000s of times a day.
Just add to contacts and block if on moby. If I accidentally answer to one and they start their blabber I just say bye and hang up
