Thought you were unlucky with the sending off incident, 70% of refs would have probably let it go. It would have been interesting to see how the game panned out with 11 v 11, but they say that these things iron themselves out over the course of a season so dont be too downhearted. Im glad we got the points today, if nothing else but to shut up my white ****e work colleagues, i think like us you will be there or thereabouts come the buisness end of the season so may the best team win.
They say they iron themselves out but thats the 4th red card of the season we've had and three of them have come in the first half (although we did beat Cov) Kasper was sent off for throwing the ball to the halfway line which cost us two points. Mills was sent off against Birmingham for dangerous 'intent'. Mills was sent off yesterday for a trip when the ball was in the keepers hands. Vassell was sent off for a late tackle and thats probably the only red card that we've had that's justified. Yesterday's ref was shocking and the linesman was incredibly bad.
We do have a disapline problem. Only Jeff Bruma get sent off last season and we have already had 4 reds this season
Did seem harsh from where I was, at first I was surprised it was a penalty even more surprised it was a red.
Having seen it on tele the initial tackle was good but he flicked out afterwards. Still a soft peno but you cant complain either way. But never deserved a red. A yellow at worst as we ended up with a double punishment
The reason for sending Mills off must have been for the last man denying a goal scoring opportunity (even though Kasper had the ball in his hands) as it wasn't a vicious, dangerous foul - So why did the Hull player who was the last man who did deny a goal scoring opportunity only receive a yellow 5 minutes earlier? Lack of consistency is very galling for the party that feels aggrieved That said - No complaints about the penalty needlessly given away - Time to strip Mills of the captaincy - That's what happened to Walshie a true Leicester Legend
Think the only reason Dawson only got yellow was because Hobbs had caught up just before Beckford had been fouled
Just watched the incident, and it looked to me like McLean may have been able to get a foot on the ball before Kasper got there had he not been going to ground after being tripped by Mills. Definite penalty, 50/50 red card.
The rules on the 'goalscoring opportunity' have been a bit misunderstood this weekend. David Luiz should have been sent off against Newcastle. Gary Cahill shouldn't have been sent off against Spurs. Matt Mills shouldn't have been sent off against Hull. All of those incidents we're involving 'goalscoring opportunities' and the referees got them all wrong.
I would say McLean's would definitely have been a goalscoring opportunity if, as I suspect, he would have been able to get a foot on the ball, which he could have flicked over the oncoming 'keeper.
No it wasn't, it did eventually get to Kasper, but only after McLean had been tripped. As I said, it's not a definite red, if I were a Leicester fan I would be disappointed, but would also be disappointed as a Hull fan if Mills hadn't been sent off.
Well put it this way. When the trip occured the ball was out of McLeans control and by the time he'd hit the deck the ball was in Kaspers hands. Even if he hadn't tripped McLean the ball would have ended up in Kaspers hands. He didn't have any control at all. Never a red. Always a pen.
Just watched it again and the last angle shows McLean definitely had a chance to reach the ball before being tripped.
Sorry Simon I disagree - There is no way McLean would have got to the other side of that ball - Which was moving away from goal before Kasper would have it in his hands
Opinions are what makes football great and my opinion is that McLean had no chance. Very annoying that we're going to lose a solid centre half for 3 games. Although we do have two internationals waiting on the bench so its not too much of a problem.
I think it was an obvious penalty but not a red card- surely we should be talking about clear goal-scoring opportunities. Kasper would almost certainly have saved the shot even if McLean had got a shot away (which is unlikely in my opinion).
