The arabs offered 4.8bn which is below Ineos last offer.

When are they announcing? I think I read somewhere it'll be 14th June. I hope that's right.

Everything is a farce for us under these fkin Glazers. Transfers? Farce! Getting a manager? Farce! Getting rid of deadwood? Farce!

Selling for massive profits? Super-farce to hold out for even more profits!

    Such KNTS!!!

10 minutes still to play at Anfield, everyone is a Villa fan at the moment. Villa's Martinez can be a right dick, but he is an assured keeper.

We just need a point from the next two games to qualify. Hopefully we can win both and finish in third place.

Well as this is the rebuild thread...

now that we've virtually secured CL football I hope someone at the club is actually making moves to sign players early doors.

I think the biggest fish to fry is really the ownership situation. Conclude that, and the rest will open up swiftly.

Maybe but we can't be hanging about for that or relying on it.

“Staff were told in March to expect "clarity" on the ownership situation by the end of the campaign at the latest but sources have told ESPN that there are now concerns the Glazers are delaying a decision until after the end of the season.”

    Meaning probably July.

Perhaps you’re correct, Treble. These bastards don’t seem to be going anytime soon. They are despicable at this point because of unabated greed at the expense of an institution. They will not stop at anything until they’ve sucked the last out of the club.

Mason Mount being suggested as a likely target in the press - I bloody well hope not.

We're going to be linked with everyone.

After our first transfer window, I feel reassured Ten Hag will know who he wants and I kind of trust his judgement.

Personally don't see the issue with Mount.

He's a good, young, solid CM. And hopefully he won't be expensive going into the last year of his contract.

Ok, he's not Jude Bellingham, but then he's also not £100million and would be a massive improvement on McTominay and Fred, and would slot into a midfield three of him, Casemiro and Fernandes, giving Eriksen much needed time off.

    No brainer.

Who else we supposed to be in for?

Isn't he more of an attacking midfielder though rather than a CM. Just doesn't seem like what we need.

No one manager’s judgement infallible. I would call Antony a poor buy. For £80m, he hasn’t offered anything that wasn’t already in the squad.

I think we need better oversight with our transfers than simply just getting the names that the manager wants at any cost. If the fee is not bloated, sure! de Jong would have been great at that £60m quoted price.

I would love to see more smart transfers like Bruno. He has to be the best transfer in terms of cost and impact since Sir Alex.

Casemiro can play the holding role.

In a three with Cas at the base and then another three in front, Mount would be ideal.

We've not done too badly with Eriksen in a similar role. Eriksen can only play a hour though.

We could always chase de Jong all summer instead of course.

The only one of his buys I question is Malacia. I think Antony is a raw talent, his workrate is unrivaled and he's been allowed to play his natural game in his first season. I expect him to moulded into a better player under Ten Hag next season, much like Ronaldo was. I'm not saying he's as good but I see his start as similar.

Btw can I just say I'm disappointed Brandon Williams is being sold. He was never given a proper chance and I think he had potential. Great tackler, good positional sense and not afraid to bring the ball out.

Agree with you on William's but think Antony needs to be moved over to the left, he's terribly one footed and spends most of his time running to the byline then trying to cut back.

But Antony has been playing under ETH for some time. What I personally have a problem with is that we never attack the baseline on the right side of the field when Antony is playing which ultimately slows down the flow of attack. By the time he cuts it back, the attack breaks down from there. I don’t know why he hasn’t been tried on the left and move someone like Sancho to the right.

I’m sure the manager has his reasons but it suggests that we continue to lack balance in the midfield. Ultimately, if you can’t play an £80 player is the most effective position, it’s a terrible waste as we did with Sancho.

Well, one would hope that we’ve learned from last season. If we can’t get him, we should already know that by now. But I still think the price that we were quoted to close it for would have represented a smart coup. Hopefully we can get deals like that done early this summer.
