There are plenty of premiership players who will be free agents this summer. Domestically there are Seb Larrson, Johan Elmander, Zoltan Gera and Nigel Reo Coker. These lads are all solid premiership players with bags of experience. I would see Elmander and Larrson improving our team and Gera and Reo Coker bring handy additions to our squad. No doubt there are also many quality players around the world that will be free agents this summer

I have no problem with Pardew looking at these lads - and any other free agent this summer - so long as it means we are also buying other players. It is smart business to look at the free market and save money wherever we can if that then means we have more cash to spend on the high quality players we need to take the team to the next level.

The free agent market is great, often genuinely good players available for nothing/small compensation fee, and I would have no problem with us bringing in a couple of good quality freebies in summer, as long as we spend all the Carroll money.

And please stop advertising your blog.

Gera is rubbish. He is 32 and will never get in our team, I think he would offer nothing.
Elmander is slow and is generally a poor finisher.
Larsson I like because his crosses are lethal and any striker would love him at set plays for their team

someone like reo coker would just be a waste of wages to build the squad, we could easily draft in a younger player like richardson or vuckic who would do a decent job (and probably deserve it!)

Larrson would be a good buy.

Many good players available on Bosmans this summer throughout Europe.

Sorry mate, have to respectfully disagree with you about Elmander. Maybe im going blind but the one thing he has going for him in my opinion is his pace, he's a nifty little bugger. I give you the finishing though, even if he has had a belter of a season so far.

Still undecided on Elmander, he could just be another Lovenkrands I reckon. Same attributes Lover had a couple of years ago, quick, good positioning and decent finish. I think Elmander is bulkier and stronger but I'd rate him now on par with Lover 2-3 years ago.

Elmander summed it up himself when he described his goalscoring form as being:

"Like a bottle of tomato ketchup; sometimes you shake it and shake it and nothing comes out, and then 'splat!', a big dollop comes out at once".

In other words, he can go 7/8 games without a goal, get 3 in his next 3 and then stop scoring again.

Inconsistent is the best way to describe him.

Fancy signing Richard Garcia? Or Mark Cullen (a Geordie himself I think)?

Cullen is from Cramlington or Bedlington, somewhere up in Northumberland. Made a bit of a name for himself the past couple of seasons, looks like a good prospect. Only about 19-20 too I think.

He's been a bit of a disappointment TBH. For the reserves he's shown he can get goals and that he can finish (as demonstrated with two good finishes for the 1st team, against Wigan last year and Brentford in the Cup in August), but his refusal to accept the existence of the 'Offside Law' could be his downfall. After all, he did return early from a loan spell with 4th Division Bradford, which doesn't suggest he's up to much.

I thought Elmander was quite slow? He's 6 foot 2 so hardly in any way a nifty little bugger.

    He makes Ameobi look fast.
I think we are nailed on certainties to get Reo Coker though.
