Too many over the past few weeks for me, the prime being Pienaar, Heitinga, Coleman and Howard. Obviously there's not much point in dropping Howard as Mucha is woeful but it seems every single game he has a mistake in him. Wasn't punished for his mistake today but it was still there. Coleman, he's still decent attacking but he's just not there yet to be a full back. He does a lot of good defensively (see last stitch tackle 1 on 1 today) but he also makes glaring mistakes. can't wait for Hibbert to come back and I'm a fan of Seamus. Heitinga, Not making any clear mistakes but players seem to be able to get away from him and the partnership of Jegielka + Heitinga doesn't work, hope Distin comes in next week. Pienaar, heard he's been playing the last few weeks with a knee injury so perhaps that's a reasonable excuse but he's been poor.
We are scoring and creating plenty of chances Its the defence that needs a clip around the earhole for me... Teams dont have to work that hard to score against us at the moment take Fulham Howard letting that free kick In was unbeleavable and of course Coleman messing up for the equiliser...Battered them all game to gift them 2 goals.. Against Liverpool Coleman went In for the first goal misssed It to leave the guy cross over for Suarez and then a Freekick we normally deal with so well for their second.. And Today another Coleman blunder and yet another set piece conceded we are giving away cheap goals a yr or 2 ago today would have bean 0-1 to us?? Top priority must be to plug the leaks at the back IMO at the moment we arent having the luck that you need sometimes we are missing too many clear cut chances and the leaks at the back ensure we are punished
it's a bit of both isn't it? we're creating roughly twenty chances a game but haven't scored more than 2 goals since Southampton? that's pretty shockingly wasteful. Hopefully Jelavic picks up form soon, I think Anichebe being out has hurt us more than people realise in situations like today. we're making so many mistakes its horrible to watch, I hate to say it but Coleman really is a liability at the back at the moment and we need to rotate him with Hibbert this season otherwise well be punished time and time again. Maybe we should play Fellaini in goal to solve Howard's poor form too I'd love to win a few few games on the trot, 1-0, 2-0 just to bring a bit of confidence back into the defence. Gibson should return soon (like he has been for the last four weeks) and maybe that will help us look at bit more certain.
Thats great news especially In light of Nevilles Injury I'd really like to see Hibbert back at RB soon and get Coleman on the wing I think the silly goals conceded will dry up a little then
Heitinga is shiite, I hope we sack him off in Jan. Howard flaps at far too much these days & we need to be looking for a long term replacement. Coleman will be our regular RB, he made a mistake on Saturday, but it happens, he was MOM for the Republic 3 days earlier. Atkinson is a beaut who never gives us anything btw, denied 2 penalties in the 1st half by the bell end on Sat. We were shocking 2nd half lost all our rythmn & let them back into the game, but we should have been out of sight by HT.
Tim Howard didnt look great today 2-3 times nearly looked like he was going to dive over the ball similar to the free kick he conceded at Fulham and got lucky when he tried to punch away from Holt As above need to get some competition In for him now he's looking shakey IMO not keeping clean sheets Is killing us at the mo
He shat himself for their goal & was totally responsible for us chucking away 2 points. Not for the first time this season he was gash, he's becoming a dracula & definitely needs a kick up his sizeable Yankee arse. I hope the rumours about big Gordon are true, as (when fit) he's a far better keeper than Howard, unfortunately he's made of bone china, balsa wood & fluff though, so our physio will have to have a large pot of glue available - he'll probably have some left over from Saha's tenure - so here's hoping
Yup fingers x'd lol as for other goals conceded I dont think we are defending bad as a collective unit most goals we are conceding are from Individual errors and not great play from the opposition to break us down
