Just turning things away from football for a mo, there´s fa going on really is there ? Who have been your 3 most underated bands, as the title says, past & present ? I´m going to have to go for... 1. Talk talk 2. Supertramp 3. The beautiful south
Leicesters very own - Family James - been a favourite of mine for a long time. Counting Crows - seeing em at de Montford in November. Actually like a lot of different types of music and would encourage anybody who loves their tunes to go to Glastonbury. Other festivals just dont have the same family feel about them.
All oldies these. 1. Stone the crows - Were at one time on the way to being one of Britain's finest groups but lost their lead guitar player (electrocuted on stage) Les Harvey at an early stage. 2. Wishbone Ash - always underrated but in the same class as Led Zep. 3. Humble Pie
Cologne - saw Humble Pie 14 times live. Steve Marriott was my rock n roll hero. Only 2 of em alive now from original line up.
In the past thought Robert Cray was going to be huge, never quite did it. Currently Anathema are unbelievably good. As a label Kscope have some fantastic bands that deserve higher profiles.
James for me (too many wonderful tracks to give all a mention but "Getting Away With It (All Messed Up)" is a particular favourite ... would also add The Mighty Wah indeed anything involving Pete Wylie ... The Teardrop Explodes and last, but not least, Big Country ... Stuart Adamson could damn well make a guitar spill its' soul ...
James, yeah, top band back in the good old 90´s. **** I miss the 90´s. I could just live in that decade. Mind you saying that they´d be no Kasabian would there ? Swop Oasis with them & the 90´s would of been perfect (imo). I could of added The Charlatans too to my list but they weren´t really main stream, but highly rated by indie music lovers like myself, so not so underated. "UT90´s"
Underrated, 1. Pale Saints 2. Saint Etienne 3. Lush Of cause I'd like to shout out to Leicester's very own "Perfume" from the 90's. Overrated, any ****e from xclone or whatever.
1: Doves - despite releasing numerous albums they've never 'made it big' yet are one of the best groups I've ever seen live. 2: Electribe 101 3: Diesel Park West since we're on the Leicester Page.
The Wedding Present- Saw them live countless times, always great. The Waterboys- This is the Sea was just about the best album of the 80s. The Pixies- no Pixies, no Nirvana.
