It's meaningless anyway, I've said this all along even when we looked like running away with it. League 2 is a higher standard.

And SAFC are letting 4 more potentials go. Well 3 actually as Mandron doesnt seem to be cutting it.

Its strange. I read Tarricos post above and instantly thought, yeah the standard may not seem that high, but would anyone bet against seeing at least one of the Man U young'uns making the big time?

Rashford just has. He's a youth product, ain't he?

Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Tim Fosu-Mensah, Cameron Borthwick Jackson - they're the pick of the crop for now, possibly James Wilson (on loan at Brighton this season), they've come from the academy.

Lingard keeping Memphis on the bench, Rashford could possibly save us £60m on Lewandowski or somebody similar, Fosu Mensah is keeping Darmian on the bench, he's only just 18.

We'll always produce top youth, we're very good at it. I just wish Fosu Mensah was English because he looks incredible.

    So how?

    Are they technically superior.
    Are you lucky.
Does the club have more patience.
    A better training system.
    A better coach.

How do you produce so many top talents?

    For decades.<wah>

We have good youth scouts and brilliant coaches, discipline is the biggest reason, kids have to know they have to be incredible to play for us so they give everything, a good attitude is vital.

We discard hundreds of players all the time, who don't make the cut... Such as Duncan Watmore... Some slip through the net.

    Ooh. Not super Dunc surely.

Did they really let him go?

That ****ing club you support seems to have a revolving door where top young'uns walk through. Sometimes in batches.

Where are clubs like SAFC failing?

    They have top facilities etc.

I feel if we were able to be a stable top half team it would be slightly easier to introduce the young uns with less pressure, every year we end up scrapping survival with a huge amount of pressure being applied. It's not the best environment for a 16/17 year old to start in my opinion, some fans would be less forgiving than others sadly

This is true. But to even have that chance to break into the first team you have to show real promise.

How many of ours have even been that close?

Plus to break into the first team at somewhere like Man U, you have to push some world class players out of the team. Surely it must be harder to oust Rooney than Rodwell.

They're not failing as such, you developed Watmore, not us, he was nothing when he left us and you picked him up much later on in his life. That often happens with players, like Danny Drinkwater and Ryan Shawcross. They don't always leave us the finished article.

It might sound like a load of **** to you mate, but the answer is because it's 'The Busby Way'... Fergie gets a lot of the credit and rightly so, but Matt Busby built this club to what it is today, we still play his way, well, until Louis tried to go to 3-5-2 and ****ed it all up, but it's there, in every kid that comes out of our club.

Look around the league, around Europe, the players are everywhere...

    Wes Brown
    John O'Shea
    Johnny Evans
    Kieron Richardson
    Darren Fletcher
    Higgingbotham
    Danny Welbeck
    Shawcross
    Pogba
    Josh King
    Phil Bardsley
    Danny Simpson
    Danny Drinkwater
    Robbie Brady (boooo)
    Cleverley
    Frazier Campbell
    Gerard Pique
    Darren Gibson

That's just those still playing then we have... David Platt, Class of 92, Mark Hughes... huge list mate.

As you can see, our academy is deep-rooted into our history, we'd have no history without it, yours is a relative baby in comparison so it's not gonna start producing top quality from the minute the doors open.

Other than what Tel has just said, I'd assume it has a huge amount to do with the level of the club. Any youngster worth his salt will choose MUFC over SAFC, they're a top club with historically proven training facilities. So all the best kids will naturally end up there. We get left with the castoffs Man U and the like don't want, so of course our kids coming through won't be at the same standard.

It's a miracle our U21s ran them so close in that league but, as I've said, I don't put much stock in that at all. By that age, if they're really top drawer (Rashford, Fosu-Mensah, Lingard, etc.) they won't be wasting their time in that ****e league anyway.

Bang on with that 2nd part, any kids playing in that league who have something about them will be in and around the first team anyhow, we have some very good players to dislodge in our first team so the job is hard for our kids but if that deterred them, they'd be out on their arses anyhow. Few players like Varela, Adnan and Perreira are good enough for this league for sure, they just can't get in our first team.

Very true,Rodwell is shocking, id personally rather see someone like Gooch get 15 mins at the end of a match than ****ing Rodwell.
