Have posted this on other forums.

It finished Charlton 1 Wimbledon 0. The goal was scored by Joe Pigott from a corner. Charlton were much the better side and were unlucky not to win by more. Morgan Fox hit the post with a rasping drive. Their keeper made a couple of decent saves.

Stars of the show were Joe Gomez who had Charlie Sheringham in his pocket and Diego Poyet who directed operations and put in a number of crunching tackles. One resulted in their player being taken off. There were scouts from Forest Green and Luton. Steve Gritt was also there.

    Charlton
    Philips
    Muldoon, Gomez, Lennon, Fox
    Munns Poyet Jordan
    Daniels
    Pigott, Sho Silva

I also saw Hamer limping out of reception with his leg heavily strapped.

Some first team players were training including Vols favourite Bradley Pritchard.

    cheers dick :emoticon-0150-hands

From what others have said, Poyet is now worth a shot at the first team. There are rumours flying around that his Dad is interested in taking him to Sunderland in January.

Pigott is surely worth looking at again ahead of Sod-all.

I have seen Fox twice, and both times the winger has had him on toast.

Fox is really a converted centre half, but he has got a good dig on him. I would expect him and Poyet to go out on loan to get some grown up football. Poyet can certainly handle himself in the physical exchanges. He is also a bit arrogant which I like in a footballer.

I'd be interested to see what happens if we happened to get Non-League opposition in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup this season, would we maybe see the likes of Lennon / Poyet even Gomez (on the bench) for that one?

Cheers, Dickp. It's a bit odd to see Muldoon at RB. Maybe it's just part of his education. It looks as though Gomez is being fast-tracked, not often you see a 16-year-old start for the U-21's. Nice to see Poyet pulling the strings, I knew he'd soon be outstanding at this level, I think he should be fast-tracked too. That's the way to keep our youngsters, give them the chance they have earned. I hope Pigott is looking more like his old self, can't do him much good being behind Sordell in the pecking order.

Joe Pigott was a bit more like his old self. I noticed that Paul Hart was giving him a lot of positive comments. I think it is plain to anyone who has watched him regularly that he has lost a bit of confidence.

It now looks like nobody is coming in on loan, so Joe is likely to figure more between now and January.

I guess Osborne is injured? (Not that RB is his natural position either). And we don't have another RB, whereas Muldoon is a good CM who finds it hard to get a game since Munns and Daniel were added to Jordan, Poyet, Gerard and Harriott (not to mention Hughes, Gower, Cook and Green needing match practice as over-age "guests"), so it is just a question of giving him games. And as you say, even if he finds it a bit odd playing there, he will learn more that way than being "carried" in a midfield which dominates most games at this level.

Kedwell? No player of that name plays for the U21s.

Thanks, Dick. A senile slip of the mind after too many cuba libres. I meant Kadell Daniel.

Disappointing news, even though I am not normally a big fan of loans.

If Solly is two-months away (minimum) from fitness and form, and Kermit has to be coaxed back gently through the coming periods of two matches a week, we need another right-back (so we can move Wilson forward) and another big-lump-up-front on loan until our two best players are back with us 100%.

No reflection on Fox, but it looks as if Holmes-Dennis will overtake Fox in the pecking order before too long, in the same way that Poyet will overtake (has already overtaken?) Jordan, though a year younger.

Seems to be a pattern developing whereby those who the club will make it into the first-team squad stay at the club (Cousins, Pigott, Harriott), whereas those who aren't going to make it get loaned out to see if they can make it at a lower level. If they surpass expectation they may be pulled back and given another chance here but that will rarely happen.

This is not the "official line" as obviously the club doesn't want to discourage them (or possible suitors) but I think it is the truth. I don't expect to see Smith, Fox, Feely, Jordan, or Azeez play for the first team now unless we have a massive injury crisis.

Doesn't apply to 'keepers as they find it hard to get games at the club.

I would hope to see Smith in the first team. The others I agree with you, can't see them being given a contract.

He was pretty young then. Even so, according to my mate who is a Bromley fan, he was highly thought of. I also remember Poyet playing against Bromley when he was 16, and he was very assured, time on the ball, very influential. As DickP says he has that touch of arrogance on the ball. I'd be confident that if he was thrown into the first team he wouldn't suffer the stage-fright that Pigott did,
