A new wave of optimism has hit Argyle fans.

People are beginning to trust Fletcher's leadership and are most are warming to Walton's captaincy style.

Unbeaten in 5 is perhaps the greatest achievement for the club in the last two seasons. Still bottom (As I type - Come on Swindon!!) however the belief that we will survive has never been higher.

The January window will hopefully bring some new faces and some extensions.

I believe 2012 will be the year that Argyle completes its rise from the ashes, New Owner, New Manager and a New Era (oops nearly put World:emoticon-0120-doh:) for our glorious club.

    GREEN ARMY!!!

Blimey hobo, Churchill is alive and well it seems. The most stupid thread on a football website is one on PASOTI where some folks are actually talking about the play offs. I mean PLEASE...... 6 matches ago I was secretly thinking, as I still tried to do positive, that we may just be headed down again. Now nothing is that certain again. Argyle never ever do anything the easy way so I'm not about to put the flags up yet but you cannot argue with recent form given our lowly position when starting it. Argyle are becoming harder to beat which was not something said in the same sentence together previously. They will lose games of course but perhaps the tide is turning for the better. I'm just praying for a result on Monday to cement this Christmas period. Torquay however are not mugs and this will be the hardest one of them all for us recently even if it is at home.

As I said on earlier post the next month or so will give us some indication of our destiny, but must admit things are at last brighter...maybe someone is waving that bright lamp at the end of the tunnel at last! COYG.

    Ahh Murphy's law...

Anyway, despite being beaten by Torquay I still feel we can make it, the bottom of the table is extremely close.

However I hope Burton play as bad as they did yesterday when they come here in two weeks.

What was useful about yesterdays match was the obvious weaknesses that were evident.

1).....The lack of a defensive leader..........without Darren Purse, no one to make decisions in organizing and delegating at especially critical set pieces...........remember Purse at the moment has played very few games to bring the needed confidence to a ever changing defence.

2).....So evident how lightweight the attack is without Chadwick...........off after 15mins.......... with what I assume was an injury, how bad, not sure at present. No similar leader of the line on the bench.........or at present in the squad,

3).....Lightweight midfield......not convinced with Walton's ability to dominate in this area, especially going foreward.........the fans either like him or loath him. This has been a problem all season...........Oh for a mid-field engine like David Norris used to be.

4).....A second string goalkeeper is needed............at larrieu's age he has to play continually to be good enough to be a stand in...........it is becoming obvious that he is the second string because of his other team commitments taking priority.

5).....Discipline.........red/yellow card count ..........OK yesterday............but Argyle are top of Div 2 bad boys league.........followed by Gillingham,Burtron.Northampton and Bristol R. Purse's ban evidence of the importance of staying on the pitch week after week.

This January transfer window is crucial for Argyle's chance of not being relegated again. We are expecting to hear that Purse has been signed up..........Chadwick is also a necessary buy,I believe talks are on going..........would be a disaster if he has played his last game for Argyle.

The worry is that other bottom teams picked up point yesterday........I thought Northampton, Hereford and Dag & Red would have been losing bankers. so we start the new year in a weaker position than we expected............with some hard games on the horizon...........we need to strengthen the squad and keep control of the red/yellow card count.

That is what we have been expecting to hear that he has already agreed a deal.........but nothing yet official.

Fletcher rather coy, when asked if Chadwick's injury was a problem regarding a more permenant deal........personally a no brainer really.........we can't do without him, evident from yesterdays match.......once he had gone off.

I would sign Chadwick at the first opportunity. I was a bit sceptical to be fair when he was announced as coming back but he has proved to be a key player for us. I think his workrate is first class and his ability is was better than that of the BSP. I think it is better than league two. Always thought Purse was our man so it would be a complete shock if we didn't sign him also. We need a midfielder who can pass a ball and link up. Apart from that and yesterday's result being a loss I don't believe we need much else. Walton needs to get on the training machinery and lose a pound or two. He thinks he is Glen Hoddle sometimes with his attempts at 40/50 yard passes with the outside of his boot but sadly he isn't and he is not as good as he himself thinks he is. I still fail to see what others have ever seen in him and he is no more than an average bit part player at most.

IMO we need Purse and Chadwick to sign for 18mths and Hemmings loan to be extended till end of season.

Not too sure about keeping Bignot or Sutherland though.
