http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14804557.stm What's the upshot of all of this going to be? Will UEFA let Sion back in or will they undertake expensive legal battles in Switzerland? I'm lost....
Sounds like a lot of hot air. They wouldn't even elaborate on what they meant by "revenge" on their chairman. I can't imagine UEFA will be too happy at being described as all but corrupt.
But it does state that they will be going to court - on behalf of both the club and individual players. Is that just a scare tactic - make UEFA think that they'll spend months and months and ****loads of Euros in court? I think it'll get messier before it's cleared up.
It's one helluva risk for what is a smallish club. Imagine they went through all those court cases and lost? The costs would probably put them under or severely limit their future spending. ps It still says a after UEFA in the title.
Celtic have now announced details of their europa package , season tickets holders £69 and £30 for children
My understanding of UEFA and the club competitions is that the individual FA's put the clubs forward for the competitions. Basically, it doesn't matter who finishes 1, 2 or 3 (for example), the FA can put forward whichever clubs they want, look what's happened in Turkey. On that basis, I'd imagine there are no legal routes for anyone to take against UEFA. They can accept or reject whoever they want.
In my honest opinion Sion don't have a chance of getting re-instated, however this is UEFA who once stripped Marseille (corruption charges) of the UEFA Champions League and handed it to AC Milan only for 2 years later to give it back to Marseille
So if we win the europa league they might award it to sion a few years later dispite the fact we beat all those teams on the way?
Theoretically the national FA's can decide how their teams qualify for Europe, but if UEFA don't like the rules they choose (ie: the old cup winners/runners-up debate), they just threaten to take away places until the FA does what UEFA want. Still, why should we be surprised? Didn't we all grow-up with the "its ma baw!" playground footie rules?
