Note that the last two match weeks now overlap
with the England season January (which means
fixture congestion for those PL clubs on League
cup SF +/- FA cup R4 duty)

I've read it two or three times and largely lose interest halfway through, which means I still don't understand the new EL format, other than the salient point which is UEFA's favourite equation:

    More fixtures = more money

You play 8 teams and there's a league table and... erm, something.

Yeah I gave up at roughly that point too.
The expanded 36-team Europa League sees each team play eight games - four at home and four away - in the league system, against two opponents from each of the four seeding pots, which means the number of matches in the new format will increase from 125 to 189. Teams who finish in the top eight will qualify automatically for the last 16, while those who place ninth to 24th will compete in a two-legged knockout play-off for the chance to

It seems a very good format to me. The smaller teams get matches against two of the best teams in it and two extra matches in total. The qualification rules for the knockout phase mean that most of the matches will matter to at least one of the teams involved.
I think they should cap the number of minutes each player can play in a season though....more matches for each club must be a good thing but more minutes for players isn't.

    Note :

    - League cup SF : week 6 January / 3 February

    - FA cup R3/R4 : week 11 January / 8 February

The FA appear to have adjusted the League cup
SF and FA cup R3/R4 dates to attempt to ease
the fixture compression that the 8 game UEFA
    format could potentially cause.

We get to visit Davinson Sanchez in Turkey and Son gets to try to repeat this against Carrier Bag:

We also get to play against one of the most hated teams in Germany.
Hoffenheim is a village of a little over 3,000 people. Their stadium has a capacity of 30,150.
