So they ban clubs for not paying bonuses and such like, but when clubs attack players and other fans in a racist attack it's a small fine.....
I never understand this, same with punishing clubs that go into administration. Yes there should be some sort of control to try and stop these things happening but how does this help these clubs? They have big debts so how can we punish them? I know, lets fine them!
Ban and fine the small clubs. Great! Ignore the big clubs who are significantly worse off and they give bigger fines to clubs in debt than those who have racist/abusive fans... Pathetic.
It's always baffled me that one. You get the same thing in civil law here, if you can't pay something you get a fine. Of course rules must be enforced, but a large number of people/ companies can't pay things because they're skint so you'd think a more sensible punishment could be devised.
and look at the list. Not one of those teams has the pull to magic up a massive deal to make things all ok, none of those can unban the bbc and as a result seal a 40m DHL deal. Not one can run off to Etihad or grab a big deal from Warrior. Instead of limiting the big clubs, which they are not. They are removing income from small clubs that have debt. Like the tax system you need financial resources to beat it. The big clubs will be fine. I am not surprised that there is not one of the major or even mid clubs up there.
National draft system is the way forward. Will keep young players in their home league for their first deal, stops clubs filling their ranks with foreign teenagers which can and would improve the national game on the whole. The small clubs that pick the best just turned pro players first then get some cash when those guys move on spreading the cash more and also giving the smaller clubs a chance by having some quality players at least for one contract.
Well exactly. It's like governments trying to claw back pennies from people scraping a living while the rich carry on as normal. But it's obvious footie is going to hell in a handcart, trying to compete with the mega-rich is going to bankrupt more and more of the lesser clubs, and the authorities are content punishing the latter rather than making serious efforts to redress the balance. The game will carry on, but it's getting so far from it's grass roots people can't even remember what it used to be about.
