http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28701951 How can a sub, a suspended player, coming on in the last two minutes of the second leg, be relevant to the result when his team are leading 6-1? UEFA will reintroduce capital punishment soon for all players who get red cards!
I agree it's very harsh, but I guess by the letter of the law it's the only decision they could make? For example when would it become relevant could be a very grey area?
I remember, several years ago, that a cup tie got abandoned with 88 mins gone and with, I believe it was Norwich, winning 4-1 at the time. It was still necessary to replay the game and I am sure that Norwich lost. Seemed pretty harsh to me as there were only 2 mins left, but then we did have an epic of our own against Mansfield a few years ago being 4-2 down after 87 mins and coming back to win 5-4. I still couldn't see Celtic overturning that margin, but where do you draw the line?
no disqualified...no unregistered... If he hadn't been banned, then had he played in first game they would have been out then....
They broke the rules, and the penalty for that is 3-0 walk over to the opposing team ( and has been for a long time I believe), so they were well aware of the consequences, so therefore they should be punished and they have been, but that important point has been overshadowed because Celtic have been re-instated. I guess we will never know, but say this happened to Real or Barca in the first round knockout against a far smaller club and a 3-0 'walkover' knocked them out, would UEFA have the resolve to do it?
